.i went to my dealer today b/c they told me to come back to change my "mass airflow sensor" and its covered under warranty ya know....and the parts/service manager(s) basically told me off by saying that my warranty was voided due to the fact that i had installed a Cold Air Induction intake....as much as i would like to have one...i've only had the 04 I4 AUTO tiburon for 12 days now, and i have not tampered with any component under the hood at all. So with the car stalling a couple times...they're saying its my fault that the car stalled when it is in fact a factory problem....what should i do? ive been arguing with hyundai corporate AND my dealeership and they wont do ANYTHING for me...this is just so ridiculous!

the replacement for the sensor is 250 bucks + 40 in labor....have i been royally ripped off?

do you have a CAI? if you do, then its your fault (even if it was professionally instaleld). your best bet would to install all the stock parts back on (im assuming you have a CAI) and go to a different dealer.

From the look of his post, he's completely stock and his dealerships retarded.

If thats the case, go to a different dealership. If they think you have a CAI and you dont, then they shouldn't be working on cars and wouldn't trust them because they apparentley dont know their head from their ass

go to a different dealer. are you sure your car doesn't have a CAI? your dealer must have a nuch of idiots there. the best way would NOT to yell at them. go about gettting repaired ina c ivil manner if that doesn't evail, slap a nice lawsuit on em'.

hey thanks for your guys replies, but thats the thing..ive been arguing with hyundai corporate as well and ive called 4 other dealers in my area...and somehow my car is marked
like i have some kind of a virus...they all said, are you the guy who has the cai? are you the guy with vehicle ID no. (BLAH BLAH BLAH) are you the guy who took off his cai by himself?
so basically all dealers dont want to help me out, when they obviously can tell that nothing has been tampered with...my dad even called the Korean American Hyundai support group and THEY even heard that i had done something to my car.....crazy thing is...the lies the managers at my dealer said is already in circulation all across america.. here's the story : i supposedly went to scott hyundai in elmonte (i dont even know how to get there) and they said that i put on the cai under the table...this is all speculation on the dealer's part and now im basically stuck....i honestly think i was jipped up the butt

Tuesday 7/13 - i went down to glendora dealer they inspected my cars for 2.5 hours to come out and say that i had a mass airflow sensor problem "come back in 2-3 days and we will have it fixed in 1 hour or less"

Friday (today)- 7/16 - i went down to glendora dealer at exactly 11:14 AM, i was immediately approached by the service manager. He told me they were not going to change my mass airflow sensor b/c i had tampered with my intake by installing a CAI. i asked how this was possible and i basically kept proving them wrong for about 30 minutes. mario ( parts manager) comes out saying that i had told him i put on a CAI from scott hyundai in el monte ( scott hyundai does not sell CAI's) I called scott hyundai and they said it themselves my car nor my body was never present on that dealer lot. mario ( parts manager) obviously has lied to me, and his boss and hyundai co. Mario and Service manager along with the service advisor knew that on tuesday, i asked along with my father, that if any aftermarket parts were on my car, that part of the car would entail a void in my warranty...my father and i decided keeping the car bone stock for now would be better...

low and behold...i was ripped in half today....

...and if they sold you a car with a CAI installed then they should stand behind the product they sell. Either way it sounds like the dealership you're dealing with is completely nuts and has no idea what they're talking about (or they're just playing dumb to get out of warranty work).

Good luck and I hope you get this resolved!

sue for repairs, court costs, and slandering. you'd win easily with a good lawyer.

did you buy it used? Then you might have a CAI and not know about it.

If you bought it new, then you dont have a CAI unless your dealer installed it, in that case, they should fix it.

btw, did you take the car to the dealer you bought it from? Only they know whats been done to the car before you bought it, so if they put the CAI on or something, then they know.

If you've honestly done no mods to the car and they absolutely refuse to do any warranty work, then the best option is to file in small claims court. I recommend this quite often when dealing with auto makers and its kind of sad this is the way things are, but most auto makers will try to get out of warranty work until a suit is filed against them.
Just be absolutely positive that you do in fact have the stock air filter system on the car (maybe take a digital pic so we can see the engine bay, although I'm sure you know the difference between a CAI and stock plastic garbage).

I'm just curious though, did you happen to buy the car used? Is it possible that the person who had this car before you put on a CAI and maybe had a track record and that's why your VIN has been marked by dealers and Hyundai? I know you said you've only had it for 4 days, but did you buy it used or new?

Either way I think small claims is a real option here and you'd definately win the case and get your MAS for free.

Does Hyundai even keep track of stuff like that?

they said they're not going to do anything about it because you have a CAI?

Even if you had a CAI, they still would have to fix it. They can only deny your warranty work if the aftermarket part is the cause for the problem. You can do whatever you want to the engine but the nozzle would still be covered

Tell them to either fix it or you'll report them to the better business bureau (or similar organization) and file a suit against them for all warranty work that is needed. Also if you threaten action be prepared to follow through on it, because if they're stupid enough to refuse you warranty service they may be stupid enough to realize a suit is not in their best interest.

Hyundai probably wouldn't, but local dealers certainly might. His one earlier post that is edited mentioned that his car had been "marked" and that all the local dealers were told he had a CAI installed... either that or I need to lay off the pain killers because I certainly remember reading that his vehicle had been marked.

and i did say that...i called scott hyundai and they said " we cant do anything for ya either"
the service manager ( way cooler and nicer SP?) basically told me not to bother with any other dealer b/c if hyundai corporate is not listening, then the dealers wont either.

Haha I didn't think the drugs were being that potent tonight. Anyway if you file a suit against the dealership that sold you the car they certainly will listen. They are required to perform warranty work unless they can prove that a mod you put on the car caused the problem (which they can't if you never installed a cai). It may be a bit of a hassle, but filing a suit may be the best way to go (although I'd threaten them with a suit before actually filing it).
