This is the strut bar I made myself. All it took was a trip to Home Depot and about 4 hours of measuring, cutting, and welding.

Don't make fun of my air filter :3_a_puh: lol. I just wanted to see what it would sound like.

But anyways, the strut bar isn't completely finished yet. I'm going to add another support to each side, cut away excess material, and paint it orange.

I know my welds look horrible, btw. Just disregard them

That's pretty cool man. I think we'd all need to see the final product before forming any final opinions though.

haha.... thats funny as hell... in a good way... nice man...

Clean that **** up, grind down the welds and powder coat it.... can you say Mini Sponsor....

As long as you are a good welder and they are solid welds...
I'd recommend a slight redesign first though...

how strong is it and are you going to make more contact points to the rest of the bolts to reinforce it to the body? But yeah A+ for creativeness, but a B- for looks. Clean it up and you might get an A

I'm not sure if the whole process of materials, time, and powdercoating would be enough to justify making one yourself, but nonetheless, nice job doing something yourself! Not the prettiest thing but it looks like it will do the job as long as those welds are good!

I was looking at building one myself too! But all I could find was stuff for dunebuggies. Let us know how it works plz? Very very cool.

I'm with the rest I gotta see the finished product. Also are those just spot welds on the top? I see those flexing a bit if they are. Also I'd sand the rust off and paint that bar. but kudos for trying it.

Hey, thanks for the feedback everyone!

Yeah, right now it DOES look like hell, but another week (When I have the time) and it will be pretty nice. I'm going to make one more contact point, then clean it up, and then weld it.

And yes, the welds will DEFINITELY hold. They just look like hell, but they'll definitely hold up easily.

I'll have updated pictures towards the end of this week hopefully.

Just wondering, in the end so far how much did you end up paying for this?
I know I got my strut bar for like a 100.
$30 for steel and and spray paint

I don't know man those welds don't look like they penetrate much...
Yeah they don't look like it, I know. Trust me though, they're pretty deep. I layered them though, cause I wanted to make sure nothing would happen.

It's an arc welder too, so obviously it's going to look like hell.

wow man dont mean to bash or anything but that bar is uggo...

furthermore i dont think those 2 mounting brackets are welded at the same angle, which i would think would cause the bar to either break or not function properly as it wouldnt equally distribute the forces
