2006 Tib "gossip" thread....

I got to speak to the east coast Hyundai rep Jeff today at my dealership. He told me that the Tib was getting a new engine in 2006. I asked him if it was going to be the other v6 used in the Santa Fe? He said no. It's going to be a 3.3 liter v6 with about 230 hp stock. Sounds like expensive good news to me. I asked him about HARD and he said he knew nothing about it. Also he said that they are going to be releasing the hardtop convertiable. The one we saw the pics of at that autoshow with the goofy looking tail lights on the bumper. Bigger engine....hum....nothing on HARD....hum....do we really want or need a convertiable?

LOL are u guys kidding? It is a real engine, I forget the name its the Sigma or whatever I don't remember which one it is, but its real. The 3.3 liter v6 WILL be joining the line up sometime later. They weren't sure when tho.

i would doubt th e06 gets teh engine. but the 07 will for sure.

though my dealership is absolutly convinced that the models go in three year cycles. so 2006 woudl be 3 years from 03. who knows.

is the 3.3 liter the lambda engine? 230 sound right from what i hear for that engine
the 2.4 liter is the theta. that one is impressive. (chrysler and mitsubishi will be using it <=from rumor mill)

the tiburon wont get a new drivetrain until the next generation though.

The 230 HP engine is CVVT. It is advanced and more efficient and yes the new 2.4 liter 4 cylinder is going to be used by chrysler and mitsubishi. Hyundai will recieve royalties. There is an article in the korea times that interviewed a hyundai executive and he said it was funny how 10 years ago hyundai was using mitsu motors and now the tables have changed. Funny how alot of people still think hyundais are unreliable poo cars. I hope the new line up changes their minds.

mmmm it can be done, but the engine bay will be packed, the 2.7 is doing fine i doubt hyundai will have any pressure to up the engine, at best i bet theyll add somme sort of cvvt vvt or something

I feel the same as most of you...I'll believe it when I see it. However, I didn't ask him about a larger engine being put into the Tib. I was telling him about NextGen's turbo set-up and I guess he felt compelled to fill me in on some top secret Tiby news. I asked him about HARD and he said he didn't know anything about it. I pretty much expected him to say that. I thought Hyundai only had two v6 engines, the 2.7 & 3.5 liter. No I didn't make this up. I posted this cause I know how much the NT community loves any kind of news and gossip. I was just passing along what I was told to my fellow NT brothers.

Ok...I'm not singling you out of everyone...but you people need to do your research. First off, there are several V6 engines that Hyundai has...the Deltas (2.5L and 2.7L)...and other types of V6s (such as the Sigma) that have displacements of 2.5L, 3.0L, and 3.5L. Now...there is no 3.3L. There WILL be a 3.2L coming out (the Theta engine). So...the 3.3L thing is wrong, and they're probably referring to the 3.2L.

As for the whole AWD...that's just wishful thinking. Keep wishing. :3_yes:
