i think you should beat him. not only cuz of the torque (which btw youre not putting down 190 w just an intake). But also becuase u have had more time w ur car to get used to driving it. I think thats what will matter the most...experience.

 

This is true. As a former Tibby GSR owner (and modder, see sig) I have taken out the new mustang v6's that are upgraded with duals and whatnot. Racing a new mustang v6 is a drivers race, i have gotten so used to shiftpoints and downshifting I'm confident about my digs.

I now have a 08 SI and shifting in that was waaayyy different than in the Tib. If it's up at 8200rpm top of vtec and you shift and let it rev below 5600rpm the locking rod opens up disengaging vtec causing a lag. This severely hurts on a 1st to 2nd gearchange.

Drivers race, yes. 4 door is only 60lbs heavier than the 2 door, and the offset is slightly different.

I dont think any cars have torch... i think having a torch inside the car would be extremely dangerous. and why in the world does he have 137 of them? You should not have any either... your car will catch on fire

If you do race please take it out on the track not the street. Or at least go to an area where you can only hurt yourself not others. I think you will murder the civic, the v-tec powerband doesn't engage until he hits super high RPM's. I raced a Honda S2000 and won (i think he didn't know how to drive lol). Remember, "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races."

Civics arnt worth my time. lol I hate em, they think they drive a mustang, which i hate to cause both civic and mustang drivers are arrogant, well most of em anyway.

i wanna race my friends boosted civic though, i dont think ill win cause he is lighter, but u never know.

Car isn't driveable..... its hard to drive without a clutch lol. But i really wish i was there too!!!!

anyone else notice the shift in mentality once the heavier hitters chimed in?

is his car auto or manual? its going to come down to who is a better driver if you are both unfamiliar with your shifting...one way to find out: the track.

 

Add racing stripes to your Tib and that civic won't have a chance you gain like 20 Hp for them atleast thats what the Cobalt guys get haha!!!

He said in the beginning. The Si is a 6-speed and its brand new so Id assume he doesnt know how to drive. Plus, he has no performance mods. Im sure the Si's that beat Mr. Wankels on the TRACK came with more than a stock engine. At the very least they probably had an intake, exhaust, and maybe even headers. Not many people race random RX-8s at the track with a completely stock Honda.

So i stick with my immediate response, the tiburon should win. (assuming he can correctly shift your way ahead of him in 2nd-3rd gears.) They isnt enough torque coming from his engine to beat you otherwise.

 

Take the race to your local Main Street!...your sure to win there..all the people and if you run a few red lights you got it!......just make sure u don't shift untill 8k!
