well as some of you may or may not know... i blew the amp (or should i say sub blew it) but anyways, heres my chance to get a new, possibly better one... i originally had a phoenix gold xenon 1200.1 to my jl 12w7. i want the best amp there is that would be perfectly compatible with my sub. jl recommends that my sub and box can handle up to 1200 watts rms. thanks for any advice or help you guys can give me.

my options so far is get a new same phoenix gold amp, or the jl 1000/1 amp...

at what load?

/edit- **** it, doesnt matter Orion 1200D if its @ 1-2ohms or Orion Xtr Pro 2500 if its 4 ohms

my guess is that its @ 1ohm so get the 1200D. i can get you one for new for 350 and a used for anywhere from 250-300 depending on condition.

well thats what phoenix gold said.. shows how much YOU know...........
then enlighten us with your superior accumen on how exactly a speaker, that really doesnt make any noise unless pushed by an amp, blows the amp?

if I was you, i would have questioned as to how that guy has a job at phoenix then.

what the hell is that?? and how the hell do you get 35 volts go a 500/1?

what kinda of wattage does the SUB take. i dont care about the jl amps. decent amps way over priced. Orion powns.

and yes y a sub cant blow an amp. it either wasnt gounded right or the sub was hooked up to it wrong.

so it was an install problem? and would this mean the sub is blown too? b/c when it happened, i heard a really crappy loud noise, then it smelled like crap for awhile.. then then next day they opened the amp and it was black inside on some parts.....

the 12 w7 can handle up to 1200 watts safely and is designed to optimally handle 1000....continuously.

AT WHAT OHM LOAD??????????

12W7 produces a 3ohm load....jeez how hard was that

get the orion xtr pro 2500
1200 X 1 @ 4ohm @ 12V input
so youll get in the area of 1300 watts with the car on to 3 ohms
then youll also be able to stick with this amp and run it at 1.5 ohm and get `2500 watts if you ever get a 2nd sub.

you got it...........could have not been wired properly or grounded properly. In either event the place that installed it should be buying you a new amp
