mmmm...is it cold out in OH like it is in NJ? you may have to warm it up a little...i dunno...i swapped antenna for someone recently and it was pretty easily. they were putting the stocker back on for winter, and i figured i'd help him with his projects...he was also putting on new wheels, so i just untwisted the ark antenna

it isn't rusted or anything, and it is cool here, but I wouldn't say cold. I'll have to try to warm it up this weekend. It kinda pisses me off because I used a towel with vise grips so it wouldn't get scratched and it won't move at all. It wants to turn the entire antenna mast (part that holds antenna) ...just won't ****ing twist out :(

how do you know it's not rusty ? i mean the screw, the thread inside, if the threaded end of the antenna is not stainless steel it can rust and the thread on your car will rust, then they become one. you could wrap pliers with tape, lots of it, then use a rage around the antenna and use the pliers to undo it. the tape and rag are so you don't dent your antenna, which is aluminum(soft).

The antenna is aluminum I believe. On occasion you can put two different metals together and get corrosion, but I'm no metalurgist and I don't recall what type metal is in the oem socket when I put my ark antenna in. Put a little penetrating oil on the base and place a piece of rubber over the base of the antenna and use pliers.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but two rights make an airplane.

Mine did the same thing, the antenna metal is too soft and the threads sort of get stripped inside when you screw it in. Once you get it screwed in it is damn near impossible to get out. I had to take vice grips to the antenna (ruining it) to get it out. I ended up mutilating the antenna but I did succeed in removing it.

i think the thread on the antenna is not aluminum, i know the antenna is, but the thread is not and the hole is not aluminum either. i think the rust together.

One night I tried to take mine off, and it was hard as hell too.....finally got it out and noticed that the thread was starting to corrode....I cleaned it off and put it back on. Been on there since - now I can't take it off without damaging the antenna - so it's on there for good. I think someone tried to gaffle it because I see some little marks on there like they tried to use a pair of pliers to twist it off.....ahahahah...guess they could'nt take it off either.

Oh well....reception aint as good as w/ the stock one for sure. Time for some XM. :)
