my Tib is 16mos old and I decided I would check the cabin filter to see how dirty it was gettin. I rip out the glove box to get at it, but it's (the filter) not there. I think holy crap they forgot to put one in when they built the car.

I phone the dealer and he tells me this is an option. I'm like WTF an option......well what ever how much are they?

$85 he says. I'm like :5wow: no friggen wonder it's an option!! Must be like a heppa filter or something. Told him I'd get back to him on that one.

This was posted long long time ago when I did my first cup holder.
The Cabin filter is indeed an option. not many sales know this, as I didn't know until
I did my cupholders. In Korea, they don't put those in as standard as well.
I should have filters at around 25-30 shipped with new store though...
Damn I am having hard time coming up with the store :(

wow i didn't know its an option. How difficult is it to install the cabin filter? Do you just buy a filter and pop it in?

Pretty much. Just gotta remove the glove box, pop the little door off where the filter goes and your done. If you wonder why the glove box just doesn't gome out when you remove the 3 bottom and top screws it's because there ia one of those push tab things on either side of the glove box aswell. Just give it a little pull on either side and the clips will pop outta the holders.

Okay wait. So there is no filter stock. Got it. But, then you put one in and then suddenly air gets routed through that filter?

Where does all the junk go when the filter isn't in there?

I'm lost.

I did not know that there was supposed to be a cabin filter on my 03 V6 6-speed Tib. Where is it stated that there is one? In about 1000 miles im taking the car in for the 30000 mile service sooo if there is a filter I would want it put in.

you can also get aftermarket filter for it. I went to a main chain store up here (canadian tire) and saw the filters on a display. THey made one for our tibs, although i forget the companys name. I bet they are cheaper then Hyundai filters. Go to like a Pep boys or something and ask them

Yeah, I was told an outrageous price last year when I complained about bad odour coming through the vents and such and they told me I need to "replace" my non-existent cabinfilter. and of course I declined the offer because $90 was just not worth it.

If Canadian Tires has it, maybe I'll check it sometime and see if that price is reasonable to clear up some dust. :D

Not having this when we bought the car, could be the reason for the windshield fogging up all the time for like the 1st month.

AJ I would like one if you get them in. I heard about changing these awhile back when our local news guy was covering one of the auto shows. Completely forgot about it until now!

Yes the part # for the cabin air filter for the Tiburon is 97133-2D000.

I just ordered mine. As usual I ordered it from the same guy I order all of my OEM Hyundai parts from because he has always given the best deal. He used to be a memebr here, but is just too busy to post here much anymore. He is a parts manager at Northland Hyundai, INC.

He usually sells parts to memebrs of NewTiburon.com for 25% under his list price. He has saved me hundreds of dollars over the past year and a half.

Anyway I just ordered the Passenger cabin air filter from him. He only charged me $30.62 INCLUDING tax & S/H Here is his contact info:

How come none of you nincompoops have one, but I seem to have a very nice one installed in my car?
