I am dreaming of a white Christmas, Or maybe a white Tiburon at least!
Picture it. Snow is falling. The land is covered in a cold white powder for as far as the eye can see. Bells can be heard jingling faintly in the background. The perfect Christmas picture is almost realised….then…The faint jingling bells turn to a deep thudding bass…the roar of a deep toned exhaust bolted to a high performance motor increase in volume. The snow at the side of the road is being thrown back upwards towards the heavens. The only jingling left is that of bling. Could this be an angel with an electric blue halo? What was an icy road surface is now being burnt up as Trojan enters into the picture, not with season’s gifts, but possibly one of the most awesome white Tibs ever to be seen. But it all started just over two years ago, back in November 2002.

Anybody can modify a car, but it takes guts, foresight and imagination to modify a car to a different level, daring to be different. This is why Trojan’s ride will see 2004 out with a bang. Opting to buy a Tiburon because of the price and the looks, those drop dead lines Trojan knew what he was going to do from the outset. And, just look at it…from the outside, Trojan’s Tiburon is unique. As you take a closer look you will see the snow white paint, PPG Super White, and the blue pearl paint bodywork, with the one off PPG 03 Cobra Blue and Custom Grey Graphics, the APC lip kit and its two tone standard and blue chrome highlights, the professional custom airbrush Tuscani T on the unique hood. The attention to exterior detail is truly astounding…the all around matching blue chrome door handles, fuel ring, fog rings, headlight bezels, window trims and gills, may sound too much on paper, but when they are all together on the car, they complete an all new look.

So Trojan can cruise past the gaping crowds (many of which have their jaw hit the pavement in awe), he uses his Rotora big brake kit to slow things down, and of course they are wrapped in blue callipers. You really get the feeling that Trojan had a love affair going on with the color blue!

Driving a car like this around on stock rims and tyres would have been a mortal sin, so Trojan invested in a set of 19” Motegi FF5 and BFGoodrich 225-35-19 Gforce TA tires. The oversized wheels, wrapped in the stickiest of rubbers, really help the handling, and really finish the extensively modified look off. Filling the wheel arches was one thing, but to make the impression even stronger a Varad LED Underbody kit was installed, in….erm…blue of course.

Now, Trojan could just drive around town, looking in full length shop windows, hoping to catch a look of his car in all of its glory, but that would not only be a little sad, but probably both dangerous and illegal…so Trojan decided to give himself something to look at and enjoy inside.

The custom blue chrome interior pieces and Varad individual LED’s light up what Hyundai critics once called a dull and dark interior. The under dash lights, LED’s in the interior door handles, inside vents reflect off the metal mats, causing a cold airy feeling inside the car.

The ICE set up, though, is probably the most amazing feature of this car. Trojan pushed the boat out big time, and had a frenzy with fibreglass. The results can surely not be surpassed. Those who have the pleasure of owning a Tib know that really it is a two seater…people who have taken even the shortest of journeys in the backseat, will walk with a hunchback forever. Not wanting to inflict this upon any of his closest friends, he ripped the backseats out, making way for an ICE system – that may leave his friends permanently deaf instead!

The Pioneer DEH-P8500 CD head unit takes pride of place in the dash, connected to 2 Alphasonik PSW812, 12 inch Subwoofers, 2 Alphasonik PMA800D, Class D Amplifiers, 2 Alphasonik PCT6500, Component Speakers, 2 Alphasonik PF639, 6X9 Speakers, 1 Alphasonik PMA4150, 4 Channel Bipolar Amplifier, 1 Alphasonik PLD100, 8-volt Line Driver, 1 Alphasonik PCP50LED, 5.0 Farad Capacitor. All connected with Hooker Audio wiring. Sitting in the car, the sound is crystal clear yet unbelievably loud. The set up is perfect.

But who would want to sit in the car when you have such an amazing feature in the trunk and where the back seat would once have been. By day, the set up looks fantastic, but by night, when lit up with the electric blue Varad LED lighting, the imposing figure of a reflecting chrome silver skull would scare off even the most hardened car criminal, but suits this car perfectly. The professional finish to this car is like you have never seen before.

Because of the custom audio and lighting set up in the trunk, Trojan is unable to see out of the rear window, but this is not a problem because cars which are close behind can be a spot on the horizon with a tap of the gas pedal. The work time and effort that Trojan has put in under the trunk is just mind-blowing – and the results are nothing short of amazing. I could go on about individual engine components and the modifications, but it really would take too long, and I have to write another COTM for January, so I thought you could just drool over the list, RIPP SDS-Stage 1: RIPP SDS (which incidentally is Trojan’s favourite modification of all), Vortech V5 -G-Trim VSQ (Quiet gear drive and polished), RIPP 04 Blow Off Valve, RIPP Aluminium piping, RIPP Battery relocation system, RIPP No weld oil return, RIPP 310cc injectors, RIPP fuel pressure regulator, HKS AFR (Fuzzy Logic fuel controller), Injen Super SES Catback System, RPW Headers, Extrude Honed Upper Intake Manifold (Chrome Plated), Extrude Honed Lower Intake Manifold (Chrome Plated), Chrome Plated Valve Covers, Chrome Plated Fuel Rails, Port Matched Externally Polished TB, Vitek Performance Cables, K&S Grounding Kit, NX Gen II kit (50 shot), Suspension Ground Control Coilovers and Fully Chrome Plated Suspension.

You seriously would not think there was much left to do with this Tiburon, but Trojan, ever the competitor, is keeping his cards close to his chest, “I can not tell you all my secrets, but trust me there is something in the works, and it will make the Tiburon community proud”….we look forward to seeing what it is! Trojans main aim was to try and build something unique, and never before seen on the show circuit. Well Trojan, I am sure that all of the nt.com members will agree that you certainly have finally reached your ambition.
So after making such an entrance on a bleak wintery day, Trojan settles back into this custom interior, a chunky thud denotes the drivers door closed. The engine roars into life and he is away, melting the snow and ice on each side of the road as he drives this seriously hot Tiburon off for yet more modding.
Thanks for being the final Car Of The Month for 2004.
Trojans thanks to: - First and foremost my wife for putting up with all the car BS. I would like to thank nt.com and all the staff for putting together a website full of useful information (we all blush together!). Ross and Joe at RIPP for all the support they have lent to the Tiburon community. Pat at Imsport Racing for all the tuning support. And last but not least to Larry at Advanced Technology Motorsports, without his dedicated support the project would have not been possible.
