Crossfire vs me

Last night a guy in a Crossfire with a very loud exhaust came revving up next to me while we were doing about 40. I didn't want to race him because well, I knew he'd smoke me. So I slowed down to about 30 and he slowed down with me and kept revving it up. I figured meh.. why not. I dropped it into 2nd and took off but then my turn was coming up so I was like oh... better slow down. So I did and he followed me.

We turn left and he is motioning for me to roll down the window, so I do and he's like "wow pretty quick for a Tiburon I wasn't pushing it too hard just now but you seemed to stay ahead of me, what kinda mods do you have done to that?" and I'm like "just a CAI." (not mentioning the flywheel because I don't think it makes a difference.) We have a quick conversation at 35mph and then we hit a red light and keep talking. He says "So lets go when it turns green, I'm going full throttle this time though." I say "All right but you'll smoke me." He just smiled and rolled up his window.

Anyway when it turns green we both go, I got a better launch but he caught right back up before I shifted to 2nd. Amazingly enough I stayed right next to him all the way up to about 70mph. By 80mph he was slowly creeping, like my front bumper was even with his front tire. The speed limit on this street is 40 so I slow down and he does too. Then he rolls his window down again and he's like "Dude, you're lying, I have a friend with a Tiburon and I blow past him every time." I say "No really, just a CAI." and he complimented my driving then we went our seperate ways.

Needless to say I was very impressed with my Tiburon. Then I started thinking, well maybe they're not that fast. I looked up the performance stats on the Crossfire online and they say 0-60 in 6.5 seconds with a 14.5 quarter mile time. The guy knew his stuff about cars so I'm assuiming he knew how to drive his. And it was a manual, I asked. I'm VERY impressed with my car since isn't quarter mile for us 15.1?

Yeah, a Crossfire would whomp on the 4-banger Tiburon.. but if it were a fairly base Crossfire, it should pull on the V6 Tiburon, but who knows by how much.

If there's one product I somewhat like from Chrysler Corporation it would be a Crossfire. But I would only drive a Chrysler/Dodge product with a manual.

Yeah I second that. I think they look like crap.

Good race.

Mr Crossfire must have been racing the 4 cyl Tib in the past.

Photoman, that's a good description :)

Crossfires are pretty quick......I haven't race one officially yet, but I did come up on one the other day on a straight and had a very hard time getting even with it once the driver (a girl actually) realized that i was gaining on her.
