RADIATOR

Radiator 2.7L

COMPONENTS

REMOVAL

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery terminal.
Disconnect the fan motor connector.
Loosen the radiator drain plug to drain the coolant.

Disconnect the upper and lower hoses and overflow tube after making marks on the radiator hose and the hose clamp.
For vehicles with automatic transaxles, disconnect the oil cooler hoses from the automatic transaxle. CAUTION: Cover or plug the hose and inlets of the radiator so that dust and other foreign materials can not enter after the hose is disconnected from the radiator.

Remove the radiator upper mounting bolt.
Remove the radiator together with the fan motor.
Remove the radiator fan motor and condenser fan motor from the radiator.
INSPECTION

Check for foreign material between the radiator fins.
Check the radiator fins for damage and straighten if necessary.
Check the radiator for corrosion, damage, rust or scale.
Check the radiator hoses for cracks, damage or deterioration.
Check the reservoir tank for damage.
Check the automatic transaxle oil cooler hoses for cracking, damage or deterioration (only A/T).
INSTALLATION

Fill the radiator and reservoir tank with a clean coolant mixture.
Run the engine until the coolant warms up enough so that the thermostat valve opens and then turn off the engine.
Remove the radiator cap and pour the coolant up to the filler neck of the radiator. Fill the reservoir tank to the upper level.
Check that there are no leaks from the radiator, hoses or connections.

Well just got mine in. Certainly took me more than an hour but it's in. I did not get pics as I did it in my garage and the lighting is bad, no flash on my phone. Note to anyone doing it; after you follow the guide posted above, there are a few more steps necessary to get the bastard out. Along the sides of the radiator there is a screw/bolt about half way down that holds the ac condenser to the radiator (one on each side). then on the right side (standing at front of car facing the engine) towards the top there are 2 bolts near the top that hold the aluminum right angle that screws to the top corner of the radiator. I had to take all these out otherwise the condenser was trying to come out with the radiator. Still getting done flushing everything as I had a couple of bottles of stop leak in the old radiator so it would live long enough for the new one to arrive. All in I spent 65.18 for the radiator new on ebay and 8.00 on antifreeze at walmart. Dealershit Key Hyundai wanted $410 to do it so $73.18 ftw and **** the dealership! Seller on ebay was radiatordealz with 98.6 positive feedback.

Edit: My model year is 2003 and it's a manual 2.7 your model may differ.

With an auto, will you need to add tranny fluid after removing the lines???

Radiator has a small crack at the very top. I see the short walkthrough above, I was just curious if anyone had any pics taken during a replacement.

Was going to try a temporary solution but looks like everyone suggests getting another one.

About to do this myself, don't have any experience with this kinda thing. I'm buying the radiator for a 2003 4 cylinder automatic.

My question has to do with buying the parts. The site I'm buying the radiator from doesn't ask if the transmission is automatic. Don't I need a radiator with the oil cooler on it? Want to make sure I get the right part.
