I'm having the same problem with my 2003 4 cylinder, it's an automatic transmission and like you say sometimes it goes other times it's just sluggish. Say you make a rolling stop making a right hand turn and the car stays in second gear, you start to accelerate and nothing you can put your foot to floor and nothing happens it's just sluggishly gets up to speed and eventually switches gears. I've had it in the trip tonic shifting and mostly in 2nd gear it seems to happen. Basically my car runs like **** like yours. I have no check engine lights everythings maintained, also my fuel economy is crap and my gas gauge bounces around mostly after half a tank. No clue and I wan to sell it because I can't figure it out!! Someone has to know help!

Ya me too man I do all the work myself and I've changed a lot of stuff and tried many things to solve this problem, i can't wait to see what that fuel filter does for you because if it helps I'll be doing that this week! It's really hurting the cars performance whatever it is! My moms 05 sunfire which is a 2.3 8 valve with 110
Hp has way more get up and go then my tib it's embarrassing.

May look into replacing the fuel pump as well. I've seen other cars stuttering or losing power becasue of it. May also consider it if you are already replacing the filter. Especially if you don't feel like getting to it again.

I haven't seen this issue much on tibs. Just a thought.
Okay I'll take a look at that depending on what the final word on his fuel filter results. Considering how my fuel gauge bounces around like crazy that may be a good idea and could potentially solve that problem. Thanks

Same here ac on and off! I also have a CIA and it does it with the stock air box or CIA. Also had headers on did it before I caged to after market, with the aftermarket and still did it when I went back to stock. My filter is relatively new, have had the injectors cleaned with the product from Hyundai. Changed my intake manifold gasket has a bad leak in it. No exhaust leak changed out the flex pipe last summer, new downstream o2 sensor. I had a p0456 but that was taken care of with all that other stuff! I do t know what it could be, one of the rockers or something has a bit of a tick to it but everyone says its nothing. Im getting so frustrated with it! It drives like poo and like you said and I said before my moms 4 door sunfire could prob wipe my cars ***. I don't want to sell it but it's being put up for sale. I would still really like to figure this out

Ya I know that's why she's getting the boot, it's not that I'm expecting more than what the car is or capable of I just want the thing to run properly that's all. If I keep it or not that's another thing, but I know the car should be performing way better then it does

I just orderd the filter from Hyundai I'll get it Monday, should I get the strainer too? And mines an auto and the transmission slips every once and a while but it's definitely not the reason my car runs the way it does. Jalexus has the right idea

So Hyundai in toronto wanted 160 just for labour but there a joke! I did my fuel filter last night didn't take too long and it fired up right away. Seems a little better, so either the car still has a few issues or the thing is just slow as anything to me!

hmm did you try using a fuel injector cleaner?
I did last year, but since then I was running aftermarket headers and the car was running very rich so maybe it would help out a bit. But I just don't see it being that, but everyone tells me that's just the way the cat is. So maybe I'm effed up and think there's something wrong with the car when there's not.

What do you define as slow and fast.. My throttle feels way more responsive and it's got a bit mode of get up and go. But the car by no means is faster. Again, it's a 4 cyl.. Don't expect it to be as fast as a V6 lol.
Ya I know I don't expect too much from it, I know what it's putting out and it's not much. Like I said I could be the problem not the car. It is a very early 2003 non cvvt and could just have its bugs too from manufacturing. Production always gets more reliable as years go on
