:3_winkthu yup I made three passes on street rubber and on the third one I popped my motor because my fuel pump took a crap mid track.......I have vids of all three passes. 1st, I found out why eveyone was having problems running street rubber with a blower......it just wouldnt hook up, I spun 1st 2nd 3rd right into 4rthand ran a dismal 13.8 pass 2.4 60ft, 110 trap speed I was tryin like a maniac to control the throttle but it just sounded like my car was just goin crazy, 2nd pass I went ahead and lowered the tire pressure to 26lbs from 32 and decided to hit the water box and heat them up just a little to see if that would help and launched it in second, helped a little but still spun off a 2.3 60 ft and dropped it to a 13.20 still 110 trapspeed, 3rd pass I decided since dropping the pressure helped a little I went ahead and dopped it down to 16 psi and did a full burnout ...I launched in 1st and spun and wheel hopped(that was a first) so I short shifted to second it held real good so I shifted 7800rpm went to third gear and it was just pulling insanely hard when I hit the 1/8th mile it all of a sudden lost power I looked at my AFR....17.9 ohhhhh crap , and before I could let out of the throttle I heard the ever so no so good POP! Ahhhhh funtimes I thought, anyways I coasted the rest of the track to a 13.6 <head down>Sorry guys , I really was on my way to running an eleven second pass that run as I was pitted up against a twin turbo 911 that was running 12.40's and I was flat pulling away from him like he was sitting still .....just watch the video it's kinda heart breaking but I've got no complaints . I've just beat the holysh!t out of this motor for over three years .....so it's all good:3_winkthu

There is no Nitrous on the car anymore I havent been able to get a good enough tune because of the fuel pumps I was going through with this blower , all of my passes that I have done so far have been nothing but blower passes:3_headsha

not to shabby and it sounds sick as hell. bummer on that last run though did that pump have any kinda of warranty lol? considering you said it was fairly new then it went out and blew your motor.

man this sucks! I've been waiting patiently for you to run an insane time at the track...and you just keep getting bad luck..... keep it up man. One day you will be able to keep your car running long enough to get a record time.

Might be possible to run a 2nd pump using some sort of inline pressure sensor hooked into a small control board feeding power to a second pump. When the fuel pressure gets below a certain threshold have the board divert power to the secondary pump and kill to the primary. But it would require some custom programming and board design plus the pita of mounting and installing and fabbing up a fuel tank that could hold two pumps and the supporting hardware.

now has anyone looked into getting some sort of inline fuel pressure sensor and running it to a gauge? that way if you see it peg low pressure you can immediately kill the engine.........

no, I think he meant, if fuel pressure drops below a certain point, it will kill the engine... we would hope it would just turn it off, instead it literally KILLED the engine... bad pun...steve didn't have anything that elaborate... just the same as anyone else, if your fuel pressure goes too low at that point your engine is dead!

What part of my system are you referring to Wag? And I'll give ya all the details :)

I went back over to HHOP and pleaded with someone to transfer them over ..but if any of you guys would like to doit , that would be great as I'm an asshat when it comes to video and pic D/L's and Wag I had 2 fuel pumps one inline 190 lph pump and a brand new bosche intank one, I truely believe that when I changed out my pullies and started hitting 27 psi that the fuel line restriction due to it's size was becoming an issue as I started going through pumps almost by-weekly(two 255 walbro pumps and a bosche 190lph) and I always kept my afr at 10.9 -11.1 at 55 psi to the rail with a rising rate to 62 psi

Not yet ....I'm gonna start tearin it down next week:marbles:

Ah Six , it's no big deal ....breakage in racing comes with the territory, and I've been running hard on this motor for three years. So I've got no complaints whatsoever :3_headsha

My friend's advice for another friend's tC was to go down to 22psi on the tires to prevent a huge amount of wheel hop. Reason why I'd take his advice, he's running an 11 sec civic on street tires (Blew his motor a few days ago, rebuilding and boosting to 30psi on his GT35R powered B18C1), so I'm sure he would know these things. *shrugs* See how things go if you go down to 22psi.

LOL , the only reason I was running street rubber was so I wouldnt snap anymore axles ...............I normally dont get wheel hop, but found out after the fact that one of my traction bars had loosened up and backed off:3_chubby:

sorry about all these no-sence posts, it wont let me post links untill i have post 5 times in this thread i guess so my next post will be the vids
LMAO....hahahahaha, I thought you already had an account...............DOH! And a correction on that third pass , it was a 13.60 at 83 mph lol

Man how terrible was that track announcer? "OOOh! Think that Hay-unday missed a gear!" Anyways, sorry to hear about the motor Fullblown. I've been following since the last video with the pooped axle. Can't wait to see what you can do on a clean pass!

I cant believe that there are people out there who think Hyundai is a 3 syllable word....I shudda spelled it on the Tech card for him as : Hun-Day! The dipsh!t:3_headsha

#43 ·
Damn. That does suck. Were those Walbros 255hp? I would think one 255hp and a dual feed regulator would be sufficient enough. Larger braided lines will be a nice investment though.

Did that announcer really say "Another car making turbocharged noises" at the beginning of the 3rd video? I assume he's referring to the Porsche, but who says that?

I know ....when we went back to watch the Vids , we all started laughing. I dont know about you guys but I've never heard a turbo sound like my car and his was definately not making any noises:3_headsha
