How would you accidentally do that anyway? You have to physically move it to the left when shifting into 4th, 2nd is so much farther down. If you really did do this, sell your car and get an automatic, you have no business driving a stick.

chris, be nice and leave the nooblet alone. lol. but dude, please learn how to drive manual before wrecking your car beyond belief. if this is your second time doing it, its time to look over how you drive, what you drive and WHY your driving it.

is your car acting different then before you did this. If this really happened it can't be good. Oh and you should get the **** flamed out of you for this. Luckily you posted in the noob section. I think this thread will get locked before too long. :3_headsha

this is only going to damage the gear box if anything. please don't skip gears, it isnt necessary. when you're shifting let the car guide the stick for you. the only gears that need you to push laterally (to the side, slightly) to guide them in are 5th, 6th, reverse, and first.

starting in first:

pull down, not to the side, the stick wants to go into 2nd and will guide itself with minimal effort.
from 2nd push up, not to the side, the car naturally wants to go into 3rd.
from 3rd pull down, not to the side, and the car wants to go into 4th.
from 4th push up and to the right, pushing up would make you shift to 3rd, the stick doesnt want to go into 5th
from 5th pull down while applying slight pressure to the right to get into 6th, pulling down would cause you to go into 4th, because the stick doesnt want to go into 6th.

downshifting from 6th to 2nd is all up-down motions with no lateral effort required. it should all guide itself as you push forward and back, do no pull to the side, this is how you missed a gear big time. finally, from 2nd the car does not want to go into 1st, you'll have to push forward and to the left to get it in there. normally downshifting to 1st is almost never necessary. the car is capable of coming nearly to a stop in 2nd without bucking or stalling. the only time you'd have to be in first after you get going is if you're in need of as much power as possible (racing). any other superfluous use of 1st gear with damage your synchros in no time. 1st to 2nd takes the most abuse when you're racing or driving hard and tends to be the first place where you'll notice difficulty shifting.

how do you shift from 6th to 2nd??? and not only that...WHY would you shift from 6th to 4th? wtf?

Try not to do it again. I have done this before when I was racing my friends RSXS. From 3rd to 2nd gear.

Seems like you need to change your shift style if you have done this a few times. Here is way I can help you:

Don't Pistol grip the shifter. When you are in third shifting to 4th hold the shift knob on top with the palm and keep your elbow out. Keeping your elbow in lets you pull the shifter towards you which will result to second gear.

Or when you are shifting from 3rd to 4th hold the shift knob on the left side with the palm and the elbow out.

Do you know what I mean?

This is shifting 102..Haha!
