really I'm starting to wish I had bought the 2.7L V6, just because of power capabilities.

I think most of this is because my friend jason just got from his parents a '92 3000GT SL

But I have plans to when my pre-owened warranty (40K miles+34k original miles=74K) is up which should be in about ooohh...2 years to build up the engine. I have plans to eventually get 300-350 HP at the wheels, what would be the most cost-effective way to try and do this.

If I do build it up, I want to go turbo without nitrous or CO2 spray, I've been looking into that ethanol injection but still don't really understand it.

God I've got too many questions, I need some advice and help in what direction to go.

If you've got a 4-cyl, turbo's the way to go. Check out the I4 - Forced Induction forum for the answers to all your questions :)

But you can't make a Tiburon into a Supra.... if you maintain realistic HP goals, all that you need is money and an open road . :3_chubby:

300-350whp is a long-shot, but has been done - check out kdmguy's Tib over at SFR (a sponsor here at NT), who built up his engine with the SFR turbo kit.

Expect to lay some serious coin to get it, though, and factor in other supporting mods such as clutch/flywheel and brakes, to name a few.

I was all about really high HP numbers when i first started messing with the car about a year ago. I'm starting to realize that i really don't need to hit 300+ HP to be where i really want to be. and i've already gotten to the point where i look back and say 'what am i doing, do i really need to spend the money on this'? That was after i got done with my coilovers and realized to get fully use out of them, to really enjoy them, I'm basically driving like a wreckless driver. The car maybe able to perform the manuevers safely, but for all intents and purposes i am driving like a wreckless driver.

Not saying its not worth it, I 'm happy with the coilovers. But for me i'd rather get the most power i can that the orginal engine can handel (which is kind of a mystery) and leave it at that

You silly man, Coilovers are such a waste in my opinion. Sure, they are SWEET to have but like in your situation (Jeff), I don't see where the sense is to spend $1000+ on suspension when you don't even have basic engine mods done to it yet. lol ;)

300hp is achievable with the 4 cylinder, quite personally, I wouldn't wait till the warranty is up. You can already now be doing bolt ons that won't affect your warranty (They cant say an exhaust blew up an engine)...etc. Then after all the supporting mods are done (Clutch, Mounts, Bolt Ons..etc), you'll then save for a nice turbo kit from either SFR or maybe Import Sharks Twin Turbo. Boom, 2 years from now you're all set - get the kit and your at the 300 mark ^_^

Just spend your money wisely, unlike that guy up thar ^^^ hehe:3_shiny:

Actually if you think of "power and more power" only, the I4's had shown the largest figures of tiburons,
SFR Stage2 super, almost a bolt-on http://www.kdmstuff.com/shop/step1.php?number=595 , with good exhaust (add $700), BBTB (add $280), P&PIM (add $350), some suspension stuff (add like $500), and you are +300whp @ $7000.

With some custom works you could save some buck, but dont expect it below $5000 to cross 300whp line IMO. The OP point , even with V6 if you target that level of power, you will be putting the same almost costs (if not more)

i think it would be easier on the i4 than on the v6 platform simply because the i4 takes well to a turbo. Take your time over the next year or so and build it up. It will also be more cost effective than switching out to a new v6 block from NGM and then building that up.

He of course knows himself best. I know he loves his Coilovers but I have this feeling when I talk to him..etc there is a hint of question that the money could've been used elsewhere.

I especially saw that after he rode in Landshark's Sniped Tiburon lol.

Auto-X is fun, and takes a lot of talent so I ain't busting on that, but around here, you need power to impress so thats what I am going for.

If I do build up an I4 I'm building up a second block so I don't have to go without my car for more time then needed. The idea is an Elantra block or other hyundai 4 banger. I'll make a post with my 4-cyl questions there.

I also just got word that I won't be getting full time hours after i graduate this week, which sucks so now I need a new job, which also reminds me I've got to go sign up for the air guard, that'll be paying for my car payments and I'll get my full tuition waivered (night classes).

It kinda sucks I'm looking into the future and wondering where I'll have the time to do this, I'm not counting on any bonus (although I've heard 12k or so), if I get one, that's great, my car's paid off in full, if not whatever.

I'm going to college for free, and yes it is full tuition for all NH colleges, my uncles in the gaurd and has had some buddies go through to get through college and it worked.

And yes the title does sound like a personal problem, on purpose, I knew more people would look instead of posting the

Should I 4-cyl or V-6

Or noobie engine questions

or such.
