Ok so ive stated stuff in recent threads about me racing my dads 350z but still havent yet. but now ive been challenged to a race against his 2000 Jaguar xj8......yea its quick but i think i can take it? I have the 2004 Tiburon GT v6 6speed with intake and exhaust.

i havent been chalenged but ive been takin so much sht from my bro and dad that he will kill me and i wont win:3_confuse but i say yea right, its too heavy ill win! for sure and its an auto...so this might go down soon?

what do you guys think, 4door luxury Jag or GT tiburon =)

man your gunna get killed by both the 350z and the jag, seriously dont go against those cars without a turbo or AT LEAST i/h/e your looking at 170ish hp you have at the wheels and you still weigh 3200 poundsish. The jag is a torquey engine (300+ ft/lb) not to mention it weighs only 3700lbs so your ****ed right there. Youll have more of a chance with the z, and thats not saying much...

Your running AT BEST 15s

and your not running a full I/H/E so no you cant win, and even with headers you wont win, and even if the jag starts in 5th gear no you will not win, and even if you cut him off or drive dirty or throw a banana peel out the window you will not win, stop playing mario kart, not all cars are the same speed buddy.

They are making fun of you because you are a fan boy. Both the 350z and the Jag will win you [.]

Take a look at the power to weight ratios. You lose on every front, including style and quality. Don't feel bad though. Jags and Z's have both earned their respect over many years. Your only hope, install NOS or go F/I.

No way in hell that Jag weighs 3700 lbs. So, after looking up the specs, it makes 290 hp/290 tq and weighs around 4000 pounds. If you know how to drive, you may pull it off, though he may get you off the line. Oh yeah, if it is a long-wheelbase model (XJ8L), that makes it even heavier. Just make sure it isn't an XJR. I made that mistake once on an onramp with my old 6-speed with I/E and an XKR hardtop.

Weight is the main reason why sub-300 hp english cars are slow. Because it takes that much power just to get them to move reasonably quick.

Don't listen to Nikeiolouse...his estimates for your tiburon are way off. Even after I/E, you're still probably making more torque than hp or a nearly equal amount of both.

=) someone finally with a little faith! lol, but yea im concerned about the dig now? i think it will be one hell of a race IMO....weight plays a big role!

Good job GT Racer....sounds like you know how to drive.

EDIT: I wonder what the sport mode does. If it is just a suspension damping control or if it changes shift points and possibly power output.

thanks yea i did take him! id like to say im a decent driver =) , and i was scared shitless when we did it cause i herd the damn think rev up but i managed to stay upfront, the poll shows ill get killed but everyones wrong! lol

i just have to try the dig now to completely shut my dad up lol, so he dnt knock on my car any more, im not great at launching but i think i should be ok if i can get off the line with little weel spin :3_winkthu ...its just cool hearin other peoples opinion =) hopefully soon i can give this race a shot, races with a roll arent as good as races from a dig

What does weight have to with it anymore? Look at the Bentley Flying Spur, almost 8000lbs and a 0-60 time under 5 seconds.

You could take the Jag...all the way to the store and buy yourself a nice turbo kit after you get waxed. Lol

Lets us know how that turns out.

yea the sport mode i guess changes the revs and power output a little and he gonna take traction controle off? so it is gonna rev a little higher i guess?

but yea ill let you all know what goes down ounce we race from the dig...hopefully prove everyone and all the haters wrong lol...i know what my car can do and ive driven the jag =) nothin special only the top end mph,,but we arent going to go over 100

Good luck with the jag. As far as the Z depending on your mods I think the Z will win. If you have I/E/H then it should be fairly close. I myself, with just an SRI Beat a few Z's off the line every time. Probably because I just had a better launch. but they would blow me at about 90 ft. Ive seen a tib with I/E/H just BARELY lose to a Z so, there you go.

You should buy headers to complete the I/H/E setup. It will increase the flow to the exaust which in your case is aftermarket so it is worth buying.

LMAO^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL I DNT THINK THAT IS TRUE AT ALL! IM still the only one that voted for the tib? thats bad, no believers! lol ill prove it wrong though and youll repost that with the tib in sec z first jag in last....

but yea idk what kinda headers to get and whitch will complement my injen intake and exhaust best? injen dnt make headers? and money isnt really a big issue? id like to get real high quality headers.

SFR has some good headers. I know NGM is making headers now, but as of yet no price (I think). Headers are a MAJOR component for you exhaust tho.

definitely get some headers, if you want quality see if you can find some dc sports, but if you want quality in headers that you can actually find get the ark ones. if you want some cheap headers that do a little less for you get ebay ones. they work fine.

also, just race from a dig and post up the results, its your dad, you can do it whenever, and if you win then good job, but if you lose then you'll know.....

yea so youd say ARK makes nice quality headers? but yea im a perfectionist lol so it takes me a while to put things on my car unless i know it is grade a stuff:3_winkthu so......ARK would be the best probably..

but yea the race will go down soon, or a later...i was gonna race his Z but after i went to the track for the first time...it made me say um...maybe i wont and ill wait for some more mods, so yea lol.....but ill defiantly post the results =) and if i do lose " cough cough, dought it cause i kinda did win already" it not a big deal he has a v8 and its a jaguar! not some 4 cylinday ricer civic lol
