Manual transmission parts possibly/likely discontinued

I don't have much info on the MFA80. With what little Googling I did I found it came from the Mitsu Evo. I do see that it's listed with the MFA60 with a slash so they must have some similarities.

Here is a very obscure find from a Japanese performance bulletin board: B級グルメと雑談の部屋 (needs Chrome to auto-translate)

Presumably the MFA80 is a MFA60 packaged for use with the Mitsubishi 4G6x series motor. Different bellhousing but the internals are rumored to be the same. @Rushking19 was it the MFA80 you had mentioned to me once before out of the Evos?
Yeah that's the transmission I was talking about but I never knew the MFA60 was directly listed with the MFA80 transmission on Wikipedia. Here's two pictures from when I was doing my obx lsd swap and then two pictures of the inside of the Evo 6 speed transmission.

So, looking at a parts diagram of an 06 MR, it shows the same type of key/hub/spring setup found in our transmissions. We might get lucky with this... I dont know if gear sets will work out, but Id certainly settle for being able to rebuild. The MFA80 is supposed to be stronger, but i suspect it might simply be case design for strength having to do with AWD.
I heard a few maxima guys have custom fit a Evo 6 speed gear set in their transmission which us interesting since some of the maxima transmission parts fit are transmissions.

Thanks for the pics Rushking19! That gives us hope!

I think there are some subtle differences on the Nissan variant that make a direct swap more difficult for us. The shaft lengths are a bit different according to @brownnote here:

pinion length difference (nissan pinion is the shorter one)

There is a caveat to the shorter pinion length. The 6th gear contact is around half as much as it should be. 6th gear basically becomes a cruising gear so you can't do a boosted or NOS pull in 6th or you'll grenade your transmission:

However, if you swap the entire gearset rather than just the FD and associated pinion, that should alleviate the 6th gear problem.
Now for the evo transmission idk how long the shaft is but I know it needs work to fix in the maxima transmission. So idk how it could be compared to the tiburon transmission shaft length.

You all seem to be 6 cylinder 6 speed guys, so maybe this is not interesting... but I put a turbo on a 2.0L. I later bought a stock C5 Corvette. My tiburon went exactly as fast in the quarter as my vette. But the Korean Corvette was a TRANSMISSION EATER!!! View attachment 138031
Yeah the 5 speed beta transmission gas a weak 3rd and 4th gear. It's because the gear set is so tiny, rn I'm working with someone rn trying to get a 5 tiburon v6 gear set in a Tucson beta transmission which is different from the regular beta 5 speed , in which the 5 speed in the Tucson is based off the same transmission design as the 5 speed v6 transmission which stronger and bigger the 5 speed in the Tucson has a different bell housing . The Tucson transmission has too tall of gears , hence why the 5 speed v6 gear set is needed.

Yup, everything I've read about the 2.0 5 speed is that it won't hold power. What 427troy needs is one of those ultra rare Aichi 2.0 6 speeds out of Korea with a Cusco LSD if available for the 6 speed.

As per usual 427troys reply is off topic and he'll disappear without any response for weeks or months.
I don't think the 6 speed had the cusco lsd option, importing those transmissions get pricey.

I'd recommend making a separate thread about this information and get a mod to sticky it.
Although I do question the authenticity of Facebook users and their claims. I've seen people claim the Tib came in RWD and a 3.8L option in Korea which is an blatant lie LOL xD
I've talked to Christian about this several times and he has shown mean a few things need to make the syncros work, like removing the carbon coating on the inside of the carbon syncro to clear, so the info he gave is pretty much legit. It's been long believed that it was possible since they transmissions have the same design but not many where willing to dive in and try it till him.
