MAY WILD COTM
Article by AADA Driver

May’s Wild COTM is pure, unadulterated Power. At 330 whp and 291 ft/lbs torque, this Tiburon screams forced induction at it‘s finest!

Mark and Don (tiburondriver47) might never have bought the Tiburon if it wasn't for Mark's mom. They originally set aside a pair of Honda CBR 600s at a local dealer but the father/son team were vetoed at the last minute. Still needing a daily driver, the two finally settled on a Tiburon in June, 2003. The selling points were - great looks, a 100,000 mile warranty and concern about Mark driving a car that was too fast. The Tiburon’s sole purpose was to transport Mark to/from both his job at the airport, and the university where he is a full-time student.

The daily driver needed a few improvements. Mark and Don started with a Mussa exhaust. After feeling the extra pickup, they added a 91 Octane ECU, headers, and intake. Still feeling the power-bug, the next steps were NGM's Stage 3 intake manifold, a set of Stage 1 cams, and polished valve covers. With that impressive list of mods, there was one more big one to come: an Alpine supercharger. Many of these mods involved leaving the car for long periods of time. Waiting for cams to be reground, waiting for heads to be sent, waiting for the mechanic. Not much daily driving going on!

If you dyno 330 whp, there are some serious expectations for vinyls and wings. Not this car. Mark and Don have kept it simple, adding the little touches that let you know the driver modifies his car. Red taillights, Tuscani badges, and clear corners are nice details. Tinted windows, lowering springs, and a set of 18" rims round off a subtle exterior package. Sweet....simplicity.

Open the hood, however, and your jaw will drop. One word says it all: Anodized. Don and Mark have anodized just about every part they've modified. To help out the power plant, Don did a custom job on the front bumper to let more air flow to the Alpine intercooler.

The new clutch is still in the break-in phase, but Mark expects the car to put up 12s in the quarter mile.

What's in store for this car in the future? Mark and Don may look into a better cooling system for the Alpine supercharger, maybe some other minor appearance mods. But mostly they are looking forward to shocking some big block V8s at the track.

Yes, I too would like to see pictures of the whole car. The engine is definitely WILD material.
It's my theory that they sold the rest of the car to pay for the mods under the hood........ :3_saai: We've asked for more pics....we didn't get a response back. But it's a great dyno and a nice list of mods, Congratulations! :3_winkthu

Where do you get that the graph is cut into 3 pieces? The line across the middle is the 0 line. The wavy line under that is the Air to Fuel Ratio. The two lines above the 0 line are the horsepower & torque curves.
