The worst is when nothing's your fault and someone just screws up and destroys your car.
Same sorta thing happened to me in my last car, except it was an F150 instead of a Lexus that hit me.
Glad no one got badly hurt, sorry about the car!

Yes, the other driver got a ticket for improper/illegal turn. The court date is the 15th.

 

yeh i wonder the same thing shouldnt have all the airbags went off not just hers.

Seems to be a common thing with the tib , having the passenger airbag go off and not the driver's side, not sure if that is a bad thing though because you couldn't steer with the airbag in the way.

 

oof! that sucks! glad everyone is ok though.

tibs are notorious for the airbags not going off. sorry to say, but this ride might be totaled. looks like you need a fender, hood, bumper, light(s), dashboard, possibly suspension pieces.... tibs' values are on the low side.

Actually, the airbags worked the way they were supposed to. The first impact wouldn't have resulted in any airbags going off. The second, hitting the pole, was on the passenger's side. Why is it that some people think all the airbags should go off all the time?

That aside, I'm glad that you're all safe. No accident is a good thing and it sucks they happen when you're minding your own business.

what would be the point of the driver's bag going off if a pole was hit on the right side, the electronics did not malfunction -- they calculated quickly and could well have saved two lives.

I wondered why my airbag didn't go off., also. The first impact was on the driver side, the passenger side impact was from the pole, actually from the sign in front of the pole. My wife said that her airbag deployed after the first impact.

I am glad your ok, d@mn Toyota drivers = FTL!! I got into a wreck a little while back in a company Azera and got hit in almost the same place from a Camry...it was a lot of paint transfer and it popped the mirror in a little (which popped right back out), you ought to have seen the Camry though....it looked as though it was hit by an elephant....lol

onto the air bag thing...the Tiburons are not equipped with side curtain airbags so the only way for the air bag to go off is if you were hit more towards the front on the drivers side.....

 

sorry to hear about that i just crashed my 01 a couple of weeks back dam people let her be no need to put pressure about supercharges and stuff... i would say the car is fixable though cause it is pretty much what i'm doing to my 07 right now only bad part is the airbag went off that is 1000$ right there... and smart thinking wearing your seatbelt i won't make that mistake again i should post pictures of my crash and my 5 staples

 

Ahh I hate installing new airbags.. Lame

 

Any estimate on damage yet? The adjusters get total-happy once an airbag pops...

 

No, not yet. Called the insurance company after we all got home from the hospital. Should hear something this week.
