best prices I don't think you can beat finding your way into a military base and paying a service member to buy you your equipment.... I dropped 4k on my stereo, and when I bought everything on base, no taxes, and they price match any physical stores price thats lower then there's(online prices dont count)... I would've easily spent 5k out in town, and I installed everything...

bottom line you want the best deals you can get on quality stereo, try to find a military base in the area... offer a guy 20 to buy all the equipment for you...

i went ebay for some stuff. 2 kicker cvrs(12s) 130ish for subs and shipping. had the box made for me. about $50. amp, well i wont talk about that. best buy clearnce for 185 each with warranty, then my mods cost me more. power cables walmart/tweeter, about 200. and then the head unit was tweeter. $1100. and thats with theft warranty, on top of my 3 yr. tweeeter warranty. and ask any of the chicago guys how loud it can be.

basically i guess just a head unit, subs, box, and amp. i dont really know what all goes into a proper system but the infinity speakers sounded good, just not enough bass. and i need a new head unit to easily plug in my iPod and play MP3 cd's so im not stuck to 80 min worth of music.

are there any headunits that will play AAC music files so i dont have to convert stuff to MP3 before burning so that i can use 700mb instead of 80min.

if possible not much above $500. less if possible. i wanna have money left over to spend on a couple other mods

At least twice that man :( . You going for comps? or just for your listening pleasure? Comps...wow, 500 will buy a capacitor you'll need...and that's about all. Just for you? Head unit...and it won't be fancy or anything.

you can sorta get close to $500. can you build your own enclosure? you could always buy one of mine once i get them into production (shameless plug - about $100-$200 per side for a custom FG enclosure). for a sub, there are plenty of lower priced subs mtx RT series are pretty cheap, dayton HO subs are pretty cheap, JBL has a cheaper line, JL has a cheaper line, Alpine type E, etc. for amps, JBL amps are quite amazing for the money. depending on the sub(s) you pick, the PE buttkicker amp is only $100 and is quite the performer (ive tested them so dont laugh lol). for head units, stick to alpine.

If you're looking to compete you're going to need 1000's of dollars. If you're looking for something that looks nice and is cheap you can go with something like this. I know most people will be like ohh that system blow and stuff like that but I used to have that exact system in my car with only a 300 watt amp and it still shook the car and destroyed my ears. Total price of the system was

170$ for speakers with box
50$ system wiring kit
75$ amp
--------------------------
295$ for a system that looks nice and sounds nice

It depends the system I listed above sounds great. It pushes out deep bass without crackling or anything like that. For someone on a budget this setup would be perfect. There isn't really a quality of bass there is just deeper bass and more bass but the quality is all the same really. I know what you mean though for a really impressive setup you will need some decent money invested into it.

no amp that is 75 is going to be good. it would be a mosfet amp. if anything go get a new explod. yeah i said explod. theyve got the new technology or somthin. there nice, and look good. i mean if your lookin on a budget, i always reccomend doing it in stages. id go headunit first. with out a good head unit, no matter what youve got, will never sound clear without a good start. speakes, get some pioneers. there not too much, and sound pretty decent. if you can, get the components set. subs, ebay is your best friend. just look often. like i said, i got mine for 1/3 of the cost. and box wise, make sure its the right size for the subs. boxes play a very important role. sealed, or ported is another decision too.

I've always been a fan of the xplodes not sure why. Maybe it's because they look nice. Believe it or not though my 75$ amp sounds damn good. I originally bought it to power my 6x9's in my last car. I had it just sitting around my room taking up space so I was like why not give it a shot and I was really surprised. I mean it's no class d amp or anything but it's more then enough for someone that's new to systems and is looking for a cheap system.

yea i know that quality will cost lots of money. i wasnt looking for something that is going to be the most amazing thing you have ever heard. just wanted more bass really. the infinity speakers sounded good, there wasnt any crackling or anything. and i can always upgrade those 6 months from now if need be.

i just needed subs, wiring, amp, and headunit. i would be willing to spend more on an amp if it would make those subs sound better. so whats a good amp for no more then say $150 and a headunit for no more then $150?

those subs look nice actually, i know nothing about the tech specs of sound stuff, the ohms and max peak power just loses me. however, ask me how to solder a modchip into an xbox, flash a bios to it and install xbmc and it aint gonna be a problem lol

so are the specs of those subs ok for the price? again im not looking for anything spectacular just to pump out some nice bass.

the more expensive one has a remote. sat ready. bluetooth, crossover?? and a built in sound proccessor. also a complete digital display. though it says let wattage, it will be more due to the sound proccesor
the other has none of the above functions.

oooo, well i dont think i would ever use bluetooth, or sat so would it be worth it for the sound processor and digital display?

and what is a good amp

anyone noticed its easy to talk me into spending more on something then i initially planned?
