I'm in. Don't forget the freshness, cause nothing is as good without it. Im working on my extra speaker assembly tonight but I haven't started yet so I don't know how well it'll go. Someone that knows better let me know if this'll work

I plan on running the amp to the two back speakers and the new one's that I'm sinking into the parcel tray, the front speakers will still run off the h/u. Is this possible and is it hard? Otherwise I'll run the amp only to the new speakers and make the lamest (that's not a real word, what was I thinking) subs ever. I'm gonna try to make it out to princess auto tomorrow to grab that amp kit. Any one in particular that you guys suggest or are they all the same?

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

In theory, that should work. Does your amp have L/R F/B +/- speaker inputs? It should if it's a 4-channel (which I think you said you have). How many speakers will the amp be driving, 4?

No subs?

Also, you should think about getting a capacitor too, depending on how much extra power you'll need to run your audio. And if you get into muliple amps, subs and speakers, you may want to even sink a 2nd battery in your trunk to drive your system.

Oh, and the cabling kits are pretty much all the same. If you only have 1 amp, then any kit should be fine. Just let the sales person know what you wanna do, and they'll give you the best kit.

Oh yeah... you still want my trunk lid?

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

I called around to get some quotes.

It's really weird. I must have called about 10 places, including 'tuning shops'.

Only one place said they would even consider painting a fiberglass bodykit, and even then they wanted to look at a sample of the kit before they said they would do it.

I guess because FG kits for the most part are shyte, they can't guarentee the work. Plus, the guy told me that most cars that buy body kits are older cars, like mid/late 90s Intergras and Civics... and of course the bodykits are gonna be crap.

Anyways, if everything fits perfect, and we can get it fitted nicely, I can get it painted for $500-$700 (sanding and priming included). If it requires any body work, looking at upwards of $1500... in which case I will have to wait till next year to install cause after getting that kit over the border, I'm broke :(

So I'm praying that it will fit snug as a bug. Or we can make it fit with a few modifications.

If anyone has any bodyshop suggestions on where to get it painted, PLEASE let me know!

Where did you buy your body kit from, and what did you get for a kit? I'm buying one from ImportShark in a month or so, just currently thinking of ways to smuggle it across the boarder! ; ) I have about a 2 1/2 hour drive to pick it up in Caribou Maine, not a big deal, it'll be at a relatives spot.

I have no mods to do this weekend. Hey Steph did you get your headers installed yet?

Headers are on adn the car is loud...actually loud is very understated. It's horribly obnoxious. I'm gonna try and buy a high flow catalytic converter today and have that put on tomorrow. It also took much longer then planned and they had to vent my AC. That will get rectified tomorrow.

In comparison it would have been MUCH easier to all this to a four banger and it could have been done by me. With the extra cost of labour working on a six cylinder and and the extra cost of parts...I could have put a kick a$$ turbo on a four cylinder and made just as much horsepower. Oh well live and learn. If I ever get another car to mod it will not be a six....

I have 4 cylinder envy!!!

I'll bring those 8" subs with me..that way if ever you want to try them out you can...They're nothing much but it may be just enough to fill your current need.

Re: Ottawa meet - Sunday Aug 28/05 -> body kit install!

Steph, I would be interested to see how those subs would sound in the car. The plan right now is basically to do this as cheap as I can and improve on it later on. With christmas shopping season fast aproaching and a couple of anual bills coming up, I need to stop soending money on the car until next year. It's gonna be hard, but once winter hits I'm not going to want to work on the car anyway.

I may end up with a second battery and a cap once I hit phase two of this whole set-up but for now I figured I'd run the current plan since it'll only be and amp and an extra set of speakers. I'm kind of new to this audio stuff so I'm still learning.
