this is an option video. they used a crx. btw...i hope this shows fwd can drift, that it's horrible for the rear wheels (look at it during the video), and that we can end this stupid argument. and don't tell me that the crx is powersliding...

FWD DRIFTING

Yeah I didn't read or get involved in the other thread, but that certainly looks like it's putting a ton of stress on the wheels of the car. No way to prove that, but from the video it just looks like that car isn't designed to do what the driver is making it do.

Either way looks pretty sweet...

solo, let's not get this one locked aite? i know you're rite, you know you're rite, some people will refuse to acknowledge you, but this video just shows that what you did was a drift indeed

Gasp, he was using the same technique to enter the corners as me, but **** I dunno wtf I'm doing.
....still waiting to hear how much you used the e-brake on yours, if at all. Couldn't really get it in the last FWD drift thread. I don't have to use the e-brake on gravel roads to get the back end out, but did you use it on the asphalt? Come on, ol' pal. Hook up an autoX newb :3_winkthu .

I never touched the e-brake.
Sweeeet. Never really liked the idea of yanking on the e-brake while going into a corner. I figured there was a more "sophisticated" way of doing it. Probably the same as doing it on a gravel road, only you have to be going faster? Now if only asphalt didn't eat up tires like popcorn....

thats called sliding when you are in a FWD car..its still not drifting..the rear wheels are not powering you through the turns....

OMFG!! i cant get over this..that is the same **** as putting mcdonalds tray under your rear tires..simply stupid

Here we go again. Go read another thread or something. Besides, I prefer Wendy's.

Drifting in not the rear wheels powering you through the turns, thats powersliding.

Drifting is a momentum game.

ahh...drifting without the rear wheels powering you through = sliding? then what you did REALLY was sliding............drifting is a momentum game yes, so is racing..but drifting requires rear wheel drive

Solo's got a point there. There is a major distinction between drifting and powersliding... anyone can powerslide in a rwd car. Hell, I had fun doing it in the Yukon they gave me as a loaner last time. Drifting is a whole other ballgame that requires timing, skill, weight distribution, compensation, etc etc etc... a whole bunch of ish that I can't do. But I can powerslide like a mother! :3_devil_w
And no... drifting does not require rwd.

proper drifting DOES req rwd..look it up

:3_withstu . Xion is right. It can, and has, been done. Next thing you'll know, we'll be having debates about "Evos can't drift", because when a AWD car drifts it's called skidding or something. Beats me. I'm tired, and I'm going to bed.

I have, and I know the difference between and drift and a slide... you absolutely can drift in a FF setup. It's hard as hell to do, and even harder to control, but it's doable. Hence the reason you see GTO's winning drift races and not Tiburons.
How about a 4-wheel drift in an Evo or a WRX? I'd say that doesn't count as a "proper" drift by your definitions... considering all 4 wheels are now involved in powering the car around the corner instead of just the rears. Rear, front, awd... it doesn't matter... you can drift all of them.
