Just traded my 2000 tib in for a 2006 Hyun Tib SE (color: orange crush) Only 40 miles on it. The end of the story is a true Crush to my heart.

Here is my experience in buying this once to be wonderful car:

- The day I want to get it, me and my b/f waited hours upon hours waiting for the employees to become free so we can work on the paper work. We showed up about 5pm and didn't leave utnil 9:30pm.
- Couple days later I go to pick up my car as it was at another dealer so they had to bring it to the one I was at.. I get in my beautiful car, start it up, and next thing I know it starts going plut ut ut plu pluh, and about dies on me so I just turn the darn thing off. So we left the car with them. They delivered it to us that night showing us this chip in hand which the other dealership didnt' take out. It limits the amount of gas that goes through the car so if someone steals it, they don't get very far. That runed the flywheel though. So next week on Monday I had to take it in and they kepted it for about 2 days fixing that up.
- I get it back, I notice all over the back bumper rock chips everywhere!!! Brand new car? Already looks like someone went 4-wheeling in some rocks. So I took it back in. They had it for over a week repainting it.
- I get it back. I look closer at the windshield. It looks like someone decided to run the windshield wipers while the rubber parts were off. Scrape marks all ovvvvvvver the window. Looks like someone was havin a hay day there! So I take it back in and they have it for about 2 days but their truck with my new windshield didn't show up. So they didn't get that fixed yet.

The best thing out of all of this though is for being so patient they gave me:

$1 to smile
$30 gift certificate to Olive Garden
$Free carwash and detailing anytime I want as long as I want
$120? Free car bra
$Free tinted windows which I yet havn't recieved because of the next invent I will now share with you all

So I got about 1200 miles on the car before me and my b/f decided to take a trip to okla to visit his family. Mind you I only had the car physically for about 1 whole week when I bout it 4 weeks ago before this trip. So we're cruising and merge off of hwy 40 in Amarillo Tx onto a more quiet hwy total of 4 lanes(2 lanes S, 2 lanes, N). About 100 miles down the road, there is a cross street leading off of a little rocky road with a few houses on the side. My b/f who is driving in the left lane, see the car pull right out on the hwy stopping in the middle of the median and in our left lane. My b/f slows to about 55mph and gets into the right lane, thinking the car would continue. I watch the car and it looks like he pulls forward an inch then decides to roll back blocking both our lanes. My b/f slams on the break trying to avoid hitting him but didnt' miss him. We hit his bumper and came to a complete stop on the side of the road right inbetween 2 poles we almost hit. Only damage on his car: A cricked bumper. But on my car? Here are some beautiful pictures:http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b302/PleaseBelieve21/Car Crunch/
First thing I said when we got hit...MY CAR! I jumped out, looked at the damage and started cussing and kicking my tire. My b/f said it looked like I was about to kill that other guy cuz my face was so red and I was so mad. And now? The engine is ticking, and shaking, and it seems like everything keeps going wrong! I'm tempted to just sell it. I love the car so much but all the problems.....*sigh* So there's my story

I bet, specially when I just got the car to. Hopefully everything can get fixed so it feels like new again. The only thing I am worried about is the engine because of all the shaking and ticking. I just wish they would give me a dang brand new car!!

Hello,
Sorry to hear that and glad your ok... you can get another car but not another life so be happy ;)
Contact your insurance and don't stand down, make them get you a new car, it will be quite nerv racking but trust me in the end you will be more happy to own a new NON-WRECKED car because once its been wrecked you get that weird feeling that it will never be the same even tho there is nothing wrong with it after the repairs. Good luck. and watch out for idiots :3_winkthu

ouch.. If it where me, the car would be gone.. too many strikes against it so early on..

you should have written down the guys license plate got his adress gone to his house and seriously #%^#ed up his car. I hate people that dont have insurace i swear to god if it was me i probably would have burned his house down to

That sucks I truly feel sorry for you. And based on the damages and you saying the engine is shaking you could have some serious damage to the car, so what I say is call the insurance company and basically stand firm saying the car is brand new only has 1k miles on it, and I don't want a fixed car that will always have god knows what wrong with it, and demand they total it. It will be a hard battle but if your strong enough you can win. What I would say is just keep moving up the ladder continously speaking to the boss of the person your talking to and eventually you'll get to a person that will help you out.

dang.. o man sorry to hear about what happened, umm this could be wrong, but the shaking could be from a broken motor mount? yea just putting that out there because my friend had the same shaking problem and it was from that.

You hadn't signed on the dotted line yet and you had to wait FOUR HOURS to finish the deal? I would have told them to go F*CK themselves. Here you are, ready to drop $20K on a car with them, and they put you on the back burner because they assumed you were already a "done deal". I would have taught them a PAINFUL lesson on that one, and walked on them then and there.

Secondly, incompetence on a dealer's part results in them BREAKING your "new" car? Paint chips on the bumper before you even take it home? Rub/scrape marks on the windshield? So now you have a "new" car with:

1) Non-original, non-factory paint
2) A replacement windshield
3) A replaced flywheel
4) Lord knows whatever else is wrong with the car that you didn't notice.

Hate to sound like an a$$, but that isn't a "new car". Sounds like it was a dealer's "demo" car.

Again, you should have told them to go f*ck themselves and had a totally different car deliverd to you. It's nice that they tried to placate you with gifts and bribes, but that sounds like an a$$tard situation that I would have walked away from immediately.

wow, thats some stroke of bad luck. Im not sure what to say. Maybe you should get another car. Sounds like a Christine to me..
I disagree, the Tib is a tricky car to get used to driving, it has nothing to do with being a Christine. Too bad about the color on an otherwise nice car. (oh and sorry about your accident, look at the bright side, noone got hurt except your feelings)

Squashy:

Sorry to read of your string of unfortunate incidents. I've had similar misfortune with my new 1-week old 2006 'Tib - got whacked during the freak tornado here in NY on JUL 12. Been without a car since, and am hoping to get it back from the body shop early next week.

MIS-FORTUNE: The kind of fortune that never misses! :3_smile:

Wishing you, from hereon, a long and relatively stressless relationship with your 'Tib!
Hang in there.

aw that sucks, I hope everything gets better. My car for really messed up when some idiot came in to the other lane, I had $10,000 in damages, thankfully the frame was intact. that was with 1500 miles on the car. I now have ten times that mileage and it feels good as new, I even autocross it.
I dont know what you call shakes but it may be that you havent noticed how engines shake a little such as v6s when they idle, Idk as far as the ticking, mine ticks a little but thats normal, I think its something with ignition.
lets hope you spent all of your troubles with cars and especially that car.

I hope you can get a new car because the dealer did screw you right from the start. I would never have accepted a repainted bumper or a replaced windshield on a new car. They should have just found you a new car, period. But face it, they're all sheisters.

Hope you have better luck. Seems like my Tib bought me a curse as well. Perhaps it's time I hang the little skeleton in the mirror like my first car. I think it really did ward off evil spirits. Perhaps my 2nd car wouldn't have been totaled if I'd kept him around. :)

My mother gave me one of her red lucky rabbits feet when I got my first car.. It has moved with each car I have owned over the last 13 years.. The only car I didn't have it in was my CRX.. in that time I had 2 wrecks with it.. found it, put it in the car, and didn't have a wreck since then.. I know it's silly superstition stuff, but It makes me feel better.. When I traded in the focus, I forgot the rabbits foot in it.. I called the dealer, and told him not to do anything with the car until he gets it out.. went back down there and picked it up.

These stupid superstitions might just work, who knows.

LoL maybe I should get somethin lucky and red :p. And we were injured, been having lots of neck and back pain. The shaking probably good be a motor mount. A couple people here i've talked to about it siad it could be that...sooo..hopefully it is. And it doesnt shake when it idles just because it's a V6. The car ran so smoothly when I got it(well after they took that chip out). But now it's irritating me so much. And I don't see how/why they would give me a new car when they could just repair it. Has it been done before??? I would be overjoyed if I could just get a new one and then stick my red bow in it :3_winkthu
