.i went to my dealer today b/c they told me to come back to change my "mass airflow sensor" and its covered under warranty ya know....and the parts/service manager(s) basically told me off by saying that my warranty was voided due to the fact that i had installed a Cold Air Induction intake....as much as i would like to have one...i've only had the 04 I4 AUTO tiburon for 12 days now, and i have not tampered with any component under the hood at all. So with the car stalling a couple times...they're saying its my fault that the car stalled when it is in fact a factory problem....what should i do? ive been arguing with hyundai corporate AND my dealeership and they wont do ANYTHING for me...this is just so ridiculous!

the replacement for the sensor is 250 bucks + 40 in labor....have i been royally ripped off?

Anyone who puts anything on their car other than fuzzy dice, steering wheel covers, and hubcap spinners should go to the SEMA site and memorize every last detail of the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. We should have that in big bright letters on the top of the homepage for this forum. It will SAVE YOUR @SS. There must be a wide difference in dealerships, but mine must be cool. I had a little trouble with my MAF about 600 miles after I installed my AEM, so I took it to them to check it out. Of course, the last line of the paperwork recommended me putting the stock intake back on, but that's probably par for the course. Anyway, they told me how much a new MAF would cost if it was damaged, and told me they'd be happy to put the new one in, though they wouldn't cover it under warranty. Apparently, they know the MMWA. They didn't seem to have any problem whatsoever with it being on there. When you think about it, all they are really worried about is money. If you put something on your car and jack it up, if they're cool about it and let you return to them to have it fixed, it puts $$$ in their pocket. It would make more sense for dealers to accept us trying to improve our vehicle, because it benifits them in the long run.

He's right, but at the same time, I think I would feel more comfortable bringing my ride to a tuner shop, where they are used to working on different cars. Part of me would worry that the dealership would **** something up because they are just used to working on stock Hyundai's

Yeah, this has been posted out the @ss, and I'm sure there's a huge thread about the MMWA on here somewhere. As far as "working" on the car, I may have to question the dealer on some things, but I have no problems with taking it to them for an oil change or an alignment. When you take it in for stuff like that, it's always nice to know that they won't jack with you over an intake.

see now this is what i would do .... i would have them inspect every bolt every seal (ont he air box) to see if anything has beed tampered with and check for scrapping around the square hole where the CAI would seem to go ... and i would MAKE them check for everything that looks suspishious shut up i know i spelled that wrong... but thats what i would do... then get a lawyer and get some serious dough outta it!

Now you know the reason I no longer have my Tib.

...and if they sold you a car with a CAI installed then they should stand behind the product they sell. Either way it sounds like the dealership you're dealing with is completely nuts and has no idea what they're talking about (or they're just playing dumb to get out of warranty work).

Good luck and I hope you get this resolved!
that's not necessarily true. my friend just bought a slightly used celica gts, and it had a cai on it. the dealer knew about it and everything, and sold my friend the car with the cai still on it. later the next week my friend called them about making sure that the warrenty on the car would cover the engine including cai. the dealer was like we can't do that and had him bring in his car and put a factory intake on it so that they could cover it by warrenty if anything happens.
