i used krylon satin black paint from walmart. i slightly sanded first, just to get a small dust from it. then sprayed them. are you painting the chrome part also?

 

i used Krylon Fusion paint in satin black. they came out fantastic. and Fusion requires no sanding, just wipe them off if you feel the need.

 

i used duplicolor from autozone one mine, just make sure u ruff up the surface your going to paint with some really fine grit sandpaper to give that pint something to stick too

 

I used a can of flat black duplicolor. Sanding isn't needed just make sure the bezel is clean with rubbing alchohol or something before you spray. I used of layer of clear coat just to be safe. Again, not needed.

 

yeh the can says: "sticks to paint! no sanding needed"".. bt i did anyways just to be safe =P

 

i sanded mine down and i did 1 set in chrome and 1 set in silver and both turned out amazing dupli color spray paint works great

 

As with the first few, I just used Krylon glossy back, sanded a bit before. Works perfect! I also painted the chrome piece.

But if you can get Duplicolor, I'd recommend that over Krylon.

lol, they're like a dark gray color. Not much of a difference

Only reason I want to paint them is because I want them to have the black gloss shine

Was it sanded lightly with some 2000 grit or lower?
and which spray can? dupli, krylon?

 

ok well, i used 600 grit sandpaper because its already very smooth and what u want to do is scuff it all up to get good adhesion or something like that. after i sanded it all down thoroughly and then wiped off all the dust with a damp towel i sprayed about 3 or 4 light coats with krylon fusion satin black satin.

thats pretty much it, ive taken my headlights apart about 4 or 5 times since then and the paint is still holding up great. no flaking, no nothing.

i would prefer doing it with satin black. bc idk how glossy the black paint from the spray can will turn out. it can turn very glossy, bt to have the look of the vettes headlights or more like OEM, i'd rather have them power coated or something.

that carbon fiber looks sick!!! so i saw a Z06 today and the insides of the lights were blue. I was thinkin of doin the same. anyone have pics of it done? ive seen yellow
