Poor Kid

My son was backing out of the garage with 3 friends in his new car and backed into his friends truck. The truck was fine but it broke the passsenger tail light and dented the rear spoiler; not sure if it can be saved.
The poor kid melted.
It was datk , raining and the truck was black. This car is beautiful an appears to have been garaged.
I was in the garage and heard it crunch; i did my best to say " its ok we can get it fixed".
He just graduated, going to college, good kid with only one other little bender in the past 2 years.

I never seen someone so excited over a car.

I need a new or used passenger side factory rear tail light. Where should i go to get a good deal or should i get a pair of cheepies?

Dark bule car. The red outs look good and he dosent like the crome stuff. We blacked out his old truck before and it looked sharp.
Any suggestions?

Hes working and getting ready for school so say a little prayer for him,,, alot going on.

Its the lower bumper cover ( lower spoiler ?) hit right on the corner and got pushed in. Not cracked, might be able to push it out. Hope it just needs paint. This car has never been painted before,,, have a local body shop that is very very good .

Look through the Marketplace forum for some used tails. 03-04 tails will fit the car directly, 05-06 tails will need little modification and 07-08 tails are not plausible without getting a few other parts.

Redouts or blackouts would look good on the car.

Always hurts to hear stories like that. But i'm here to help

I got a set of stock tails off my 04 and a high rise spoiler as well (it's yellow tho, so you'll need it painted, or he could go with an interesting color combo =P ). PM me if you're interested.

EDIT:
here's some pictures

FYI. The spoiler does not have the 3rd brake light, but you will be able to use the one from his current spoiler

I just read the thread you posted about your son getting this car like yesterday lol.. he crashed it already? geeze. post some pics of the damage so we can see how serious it is. Looks like this guy ^ came to the rescue. You should be able to find stock tails pretty easily.

Personally I wouldn't pay to replace the spoiler.. just go wingless. but it sounds like that's not what got broken? do you mean the rear apron or the diffuser? again, easy to replace.

sounds 'bout the same age as me. i feel for him. he prolly loves the car as much as any rightful car fanatic would.
a repaint shouldn't cost too much, but with replacement parts, the cost might rise quite a bit. have your son take some of the responsibility and split the cost between you two. he then learns the value of a few hundred dollars, and also will burn into his head a habit of careful driving.

am i the only one that is confused as to how 2 people fit in the back seat? i tried to put one of my friends (5'4") in the back and he had to bend his head sideways to sit there let alone no leg room due to my seat having to be as far back as it can go with me being 6'3"

Bluetibu,
This could be me. My boy got his not to long before your son.

I think the rear bumper cover is what you are describing as lower spoiler. You may be able to pop it back out.
Take some halogen lamps and maybe a space heater and don't get to close but try to make the area about 110* blowing and heating up around the dented in area. Think hot Vegas day, this will make the bumper cover a little pliable and keep the paint from cracking. Gently push on the dented in area from under and inside the covered area. This has worked on other cars and if it needs to be replaced it's worth a shot.
****do not put so close to melt or bubble the paint****
Junk yards or as they are now called "recycle centers" often have a computer inventory for parts another good place to look if you can't find any in the f/s section or CL

Yes it was the bumper cover. The dent was about the size of a softball and about 2 inches deep at the center. The paint was cracked. Had to finally heat it up with a heat gun and work out the dent. Then smoothed it out with direct high heat. Looks pretty good. It will have to be sanded and painted but i think i saved the bumper cover. Found a rear tail light at the salvige yard. Iwill take it to the paint shop and see what it will run to have it shot.
Looks much better now.

glad to hear you're getting it back together alright!

Hopefully your son was helping you with the work to get it back in shape. Personally I've had my tib since i was 17 (21 now), lots of mods/time into it, doing the work yourself puts a lot more respect for the car in your mind and you are more aware.

As you and your son will find out very quickly, there are many areas while driving that are very hard to see, ESPECIALLY with back seat passengers. I'd advise to have him only drive with one other person for a month or so to get used to the car. Not because of the accident, just because the tib is small and hard to see out of.

also advise never having FOUR backseat passengers, makes visibility impossible lol.

Yes my son and i worked together to get the dent out,,, it was great to see his face as the dent pushed out,,,, yessss.
Hopefully he wont try to pack people in his car when he go to college; Hes going to Corpus Christi A&M and its very close to the beach.

I noticed that the previous owner had put 2 of the very small dome mirrors on each side mirror.
