First off I do not want to offend anyone with this, it is just a question. Right now i own a 2007 lx four banger, and im looking at the 2008 tib gt or se, or a 2008 civic si coupe. The civic pumps out nearly a hundred horses a liter, but at 2 liter thats 197 hp with four cylinders. My question is this, how does a bad a** car like the tiburon gt and se have 6 cylinders and only pump out 170 or 180 hp. I know the tib has mass potential, but that is frickin rediculous. You would think with a 2.7 liter v6 would at least be putting out 200 stock. I love tibs, but i am not turned on by 172 hp. Tel me why?

Because they have a wicked warranty... less power means less chance of engine problems. It doesn't matter though... the Tib can be modded just as well as an Si.

not that I'm saying our engine is awesome, but on a plus side, the tib has a hella lot more torque than the civic. plus, our engine platform is a lot older than the K series the Si is running.

Good looking cars... engine is lacking. Really though, with Intake, headers, and exhaust you'll probably be close to that SI. It's really how the car should have been from the factory... too much restricted airflow
You can take down an Si with I/E... headers'll make it just plain unfair :3_chubby:

That makes no sense....

Heavy has nothing to do with engine output... sorry hotwheelz

Displacement, quality and lack of engineering has everything to do with it...
Come on. That's my answer whenever someone wants to know why our cars are slow.

Tell me, how many races are done with HP per Liter? Or how many are won?? HP:Liters is NOT a calculation you want to spew out to anyone who's serious about cars. Unless you're possibly talking to or about F1, NHRA or....dare I say....NASCAR. Or something of the like.

But onto the questions.

How does a car like the TibGT have 6 cylinders.... Stop. Cylinder count matters not in performance (it really affects the balance of the motor and power delivery more I would say). Displacement does. Yes, yes, it's a v6...but it's also a 2.7L v6. Ok, let's continue.
The Delta (engine in the GT) is very inefficient. It runs rich from the factory yet is choked off from air. That's just it's design. However...because of the fuel trims and timing maps, like you stated it takes to both N/A and F/I pretty well. Cold air intake, Headers, Exhaust, tune can get you over 30whp. When's the last time you saw that with a honda with the almighty VTEC or, i-VTEC, or whatever else they're putting in their engines...?? (to be serious, I really don't know if you can get 30whp from i/h/e/t with honda engines...if you can I'd love to see it).

With the tib, I'm sorry to say, you're more or less paying for the look. The stock clutch is terrible, the flywheel is heavy as hell, the paint is more or less crappy, but, you get the look. For some, that's all that matters.

Torque ftw... though the K series is one of the best engines I've ever seen. My RSX-S' K20 held up like a champ.

That is 100% true....the LS engine is a badass engine.. I'm glad we agree on that :3_koning: :3_chubby:

:3_offtopi

Yes I believe you can get the civic with leather...doesn't it come with racing seats too?

I dunno.. I'm just not impressed with VTEC or honda engines. All they have going for them is their redline and HP/Liter arguments. That's just MY humble opinion though.

you can in fact throw on and cold air, headers and a cat-back and get about 25, but if you get that stuff and get the ecu reflashed, thats a mean car. I want the tib in the looks and warranty battle, but when it comes to stock power, the si has the tib handled. I really wish the tib came with more juice

So true. Id love to rock say a SRT-4's power in that thing out the factory.... but when it comes down to it that things flat out UUUGGGLLYYY!!!! Id rather roll in a sexy lookin tib... AND catch some people off gaurd when i finaly get it modded to my satisfaction some day.

Are you needing a new car immediately or can it wait till 2009? ;) well...august/september time frame. LOTS of neato-freato-dandito cars are coming out man :)

even if you got the si, ur still driving a civic:3_headsha

i mean i know the si is pretty decent but i mean, just compare the looks, and for the minimal performance difference, its really a no brainer:3_winkthu
