You won't get a CEL but your airbag light will come on. Mine has been on for a little under a year, because I have 05 seats in my 04.

Honestly though, I was looking at racing seats once, do you really want to sacrifice your ride, majorly? No recline, very stiff.

 

Well, I'mt getting seats that recline. I think they're called A4's from Corbeau.
I want to get them in black suede...is there anything wrong with having the airbag light on...I mean with the car?

 

Check this out.....Unhook the airbag in the center console area where the shifter is.....It's on the passenger side, a group of wires in yellow loom. You'll get the Airbag light...but then, you unhook the battery, and POOF!!! No more AB light. THat's what I did at least.


But no.....you won't get a CEL, that's for sure.....

 

Just do as I said, and you shouldn't have an airbag light......

You should try the same RedTibby.....It takes like 10 minutes to unhook. Just pop off the trim over the shifter, and look for the harness. Find the area where it connects, and disconnect it. Then, unhook your battery. Then again, I did it while my seats were still hooked up......

and again, my question is, does that not deploy the bags in the case of an accident?

 

um yeah, or just pull the airbag indicator fuse... the airbags are hooked up on a separate fuse.. so just the indicator should be off...

 

That will disable the light on the gauge, but all of your airbags are still disabled and will not deploy in the event of an accident.

Yeah, good find Gamz. I am going to try that. I will talk to Jim and see exactly what connections to make.

 

If you end up doing it, please take pics and throw up a DIY. I also have to do this when it warms up so I can install my Yonaka racing seats.
