Well I just ordered the PNI Sensoro Traveller...

https://www.buyradardetectors.com/products/pni/pni-traveller.aspx

I did my research and for the price it looks pretty good (outperformed the Cobra 9700). I also like that it takes batteries so I don't have to worry about a difficult installation trying to hide the cord. The batteries last about 50 hours (while on of course) and I have rechargeable ones so I'm good to go.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I guess the billet grill and Angel Eyes DIY materials will have to wait.

Mine has saved me everytime except twice. Once was because I didnt have it turned on, second was when i got nailed by laser.
yep. as much as they claim to detect laser they do so after the cop as already hit you with it... the best thing to do is learn what they use in the areas you drive through. K and Ka band seem to be the most popular on smaller highways, but ive seen laser on alot of interstates and in my town. i think im going to get me a jammer eventually.... f the system. ;)
p.s. read they owners manual too, mine says it works its best placed as low and as close to the center of the windshield as possible.

mine saved me big time the other night... it was about 10:00pm and i had some guy in front of driving the speed limit.. was about 40mph speed limit.. and i was in a hurry to get home because i hadnt eaten all day so i dropped it into 3rd and started to slightly pull into the opposite lane when all of a sudden my radar went CRAZY i quickly pulled back to the right and there he was sitting on the side of the road with no lights on so if not for my radar detector i would have been nailed with a nice speeding ticket. Mines a cobra 6 band series.... bought it used off some kid at school for 20 bucks. Saves me all the time.. but once i get on the highway its pretty useless because i guess they use the laser speed detectors or something?

This wouldn't have been after you left the meet would it have been? ;)

And a good rule of thumb I like to employ is that generally, in open spaces with minimal coverage to get in the way, cops will use laser.......otherwise, in city traffic, etc, they tend to use K Band, etc as far as I can tell from what mine reads consistently.

As for my detector, I use a Beltronics Vector model 995. Best X-mas gift I have gotten in a long time. Before that, I used an Escort.

lol no.. it was the day after the meet :)
but when i was leaving the meet once i pulled out to that main road before getting onto I4 my radar was going crazy too.. i guess it was all the cops coming after i left? lol.

EDIT: Yup, you did.. lol ;)

Has it saved me on occasion? Well, if I did not use one, I'd probably not have a license right about now, I'll put it that way.

EDIT: Sorry i just messed up the rotation didn't I? :)

OK, so how many times has your radar detector saved you?

I have a little dough to spend and I think I want one...but I have a couple other things in mind too.
mine never really has saved me yet, mainly because i never really speed all that much. however it does catch the coppies quite nicely, so i feel comfortable knowing that it works, for the seldom times i do drive fast. i have a cobra 9700. and love it, allthough quite pricey :3_lurk:

Yes cops have a radar detector detector. It'z called VG don't know what it means, all i know is that is what they use to see if you have one. In Va (where i live) they are illegal. They're some new radar detector that are insivisable ((spelling)) to VG. I've had mine for 2 years now and it hasn't let me down yet..........

My detector is invisible to Pop, VG-2, Spectre, and something else i forget. I have the top of the line Cobra. At the time it cost 250 bucks, but i did some bargaining and got it for 140 cuz i paid in cash. I can detect up to 11 bands. Its saved me lots of times.

I have a Silver Bullett its wireless. I bought it from sharper image for around 200 dollars. It does the job for me. It has great response time as well. Another plus is that it has a built in digital compass. I went wireless because I get tired of the cord hanging down over the clock and now all I have to plug in is my cell phone charger.

I have the Rocky Mtn Radar/Laser unit and it has kept me out of trouble a number of times here in Atlanta.... Everyone drives like a bat out of H*ll but I have had several times where I get a detect and slow a bit while the rest keep on thundering by.... hurts my heart to see those blue lights come on behind them instead of me.... :3_winkthu
