Re: Slave Cylinder Valve Removal by ADROCK

All the STL GK kids highly reccomenmd this mod! We had nine of us at a car meet last Saturday that took the springs out, and the difference is AMAZING! It's like getting a new clutch! Almost EVERYONE could get a 2nd gear scratch afterwards.

...And the clutch transition is still smooth. This mod just allows more flow.

Re: Slave Cylinder Valve Removal by ADROCK

well guys, finally a bad story about this mod (or so i think)

today on the way home, i floored second gear, pushed in the clutch, shifted into third, then dumped the clutch to keep on driving, and all of a sudden my car jerked and shut off. i think the rpm's redlined right before it turned off. so i pull over to the side of the road and tried to turn the car back on and it just wasn't having it. at first i couldn't even push the clutch all the way in, but after a little while with a little more effort, i could. finally was able to turn the car on, and some weird noise was coming from the engine bay, my friend said it might be the transmission. the slave cylinder is fully extended out and i can't put the car into gear at all. so i shut it off and called up road side asistence, and while i was waiting, i notice that now the clutch has no pressure on it at all when i push it down.

so all in all, i did this mod, haven't even put 2k miles on it, hardly drove it hard, and now my car is at the dealership because my clutch doesn't engage into gear, or so i think, but im not too mechanically inclined. but i did have my friends help when i did this mod, so im pretty sure we did it right, but for some reason my car got messed up and now im screwed, i just hope it will be under warrenty and i dont have to pay out of my pocket for this. my friends say to just play dumb and hope for the best, so thats what im basically gonna do...

Re: Slave Cylinder Valve Removal by ADROCK

It wasn't this mod unless you did something wrong. There has to be hundreds if not thousands of us with this mod and haven't had the same issue you have caused by this. I have had the same problem with the clutch (Just ask anyone here) I've blew threw 3 in the first 6000 miles but it was due to a rod in the transmission being bent. I think the dealer will find something else wrong and you'll be in the clear.

yep, probobly gonna get raped hardcore up the butt, got a call from them today, needed my approval to take out the transmission, basically, if its not covered by warrenty, it'll cost me $1124 and some change to fix. kinda put a wrap up on my day. i dont have that kind of money at all, dont even have $100, but uh, yeah, kinda makes me wish i could trade my tib in for a wrx or some other car.

Re: Slave Cylinder Valve Removal by ADROCK

yeah um... funny story...

i got a call from them today telling me that my clutch "shattered" inside my transmission. they lady said that it literally looked like cotton candy (wtf???) and aparently, my master slave cylinder seized up too.

they said that the cylinder wasn't actually compressing the way it should have and actually was bending up i think. and i have like "hot spots" all around my flywheel so that needs to be replaced as well. they said they haven't seen something this bad in a very long time. so now im getting a new stock clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder for a grand total of $1404.63 (yes i know, its a lot of money, but i have no other options, i need my car) and since its due to "wear" its not covered by warrenty.

i saw my clutch, it looked like shredded cardboard, even the pieces of aluminum around it broke off.. maybe i just suck at driving stick...

If your clutch shattered in there that should definitely be covered under the powertrain warranty.

Ok, this might sound dumb but... If i drive the car hard which i do on a daily basis. This is a good mod or a bad mod to do? Also there is no pic so do i get to this under the hood? or from under the car? not really sure

for hard driving this is the way to go...basically for any driving this is the way to go. it helps the clutch bite quicker which elimanates uneccessary burning of the clutch.

it is underneath the stock airbox you can get to it from the top. you'll need brake fluid and someone to help when bleeding the clutch. (and a bucket or something underneath to collect all the spilt fluid).

Re: Slave Cylinder Valve Removal by ADROCK

I just finished the mod today and it does make a nice difference. I really didn't like how the clutch engaged before. i could never really find the "spot". Now it feels a lot more natural. I haven't driven it much since I did it but it does feel much better.
