Ok, it's not a powerhouse but it sure is clean! I decided to run all new speaker wiring. The door jambs were a PITA, but worth it. I figured I might as well do it right from scratch. I ran the power (4ga) down the driver's side sill, and the RCA's under the center console. I need what little trunk space the Tib has so I modified the stock box. I had to make custom mounting rings for the front 6-1/2's, the stockers are weird! (Another Hyundai thing I guess) The bass is just fine for me. Total power in the system is 740 w. I don't notice any dimming or power loss at high volume, so I don't think I need a cap, although I guess it wouldn't hurt maybe in the near future.

Here's the list-
Alpine CDA-9833 Head Unit
iPod Integration for HU
Hifonics Zeus Zxi 8006 5-Way Amp 4x110 + 300
Polk db 9500 6-1/2" Components (Front)
Polk db 690 6 x 9 3-Ways (rear)
Polk db 104 DVC Subwoofer

Here's the pics-

That's a remote display for the Valentine One. Had it on the dash for a while but I didn't like the it was protruding. So I ditched the clock. The diamond plate is a thick (like 1/4") rubber sheet. Got it from J C Whitney.

Hey man looks great. Couple questions:
1) How did you run your wires from the door into the car? Pics?
2) How did you make your 6.5" trim ring? I have the same problem with my MB Quart 6.5s.
3) Youre pushing 740 watts rms? How do you suppose the stock alternater is handling that?
I have 2 kicker amps ro run my highs (240W total rms), and want to use a kenwood 1000W class D amp for the subs. Do you think I need a bigger alternator?

Thanks, and nice work.

  1. I drilled a 1/4" hole in the door jamb from the inside. Then I cut a small hole in the rubber covering of the factory harness and used an electrician's snake to pull the wire through. I put silicone seal on the end of a long screwdriver to seal the hole. (no pics yet)
  2. I used 1/8" ABS sheet plastic. Traced around the stockers and then the new ones. Spotted up for the holes.
  3. I read the stock altenator puts out 120 amps for V-6, 90 amps for I-4. 740w is a peak value for my amp. I doubt I'll ever max it out. You might want to look into a more powerful altenator or caps. 1240w is serious power.

Good setup indeed.
Unique too as you used brands that differ from what i've been accostomed to reading and seeing.
A beaut inside along with under the hood, keep the creativity flowing.

Another question, what type of head unit mounting kit is that?

ok, I went to circuit city, loews, and home depot. I cant find sheets of ABS plastic. Where do you get that?

just go back to the circuit city and ask the installers for the abs plastic, they should have it. (at least we do!) if they don't have it, pm me and I can get you the model # so they can order it.

Rickna, nice install. different mix of brands, but good. so how does it sound? that dimond plate looks good. for running new wire thru the doors you didn't have to drill holes, there's a grommet a little lower in the side of the car. then all you'd have to do is make some room in the white plug (on the door) and slit the rubber to run the wires through.
