I was tired of the plastic mud guards and the front grill looking like S. They seem to fade and also get wax on them that will not come off easily. I tried some trim paint from autozone. Its a spray can and matches the origional color of exterior plastic parts. I used it and it looks great. Not much prep and it should last for a while. I painted the mud guards the small plastic piced on the driver side windshield wiper, the plastic cover at the base of the windshield, front grill. Its a simple solution that actually works. I will post some pics in here so you get a better idea.

I just use tire dressing on the mudguards. It brings out deep black color out of them and last too. Just apply it to them when you apply it to your tires. Plus, unlike with black paint, if you get it on the car paint, just wipe it off with towl. Easy.

I have to say that Meguiar's Protectant works well. All you have to do is wipe on, let dry and it looks brand new. If you want a well nourished look, apply three coats(allow 15 minutes between coats). As far as the fenderwell's go, try an aerosol can of tire shine. All you do is spray it on and allow to dry, this process takes about two coats to have a like new appearance(Be careful not to get any on the tire tread. Hope, it helps. :)

I have the same problem dude. I believe I got wax on my plastic parts (gills, mud guards) and I try and try and they never stay black black anymore. Always have that foggy white tone to them a bit. The tire shine stuff seems to work good for that day, a little the next day, but it doesn't last very long.

Any suggestions? Perhaps I need to repaint them, then take better care of them after that.

I had the same problem, the plastic piece at the bottom of my windshield were the wipers are started turning white. One day when I was putting protectant on my dash I put it on those exterior pieces and they look brand new.

I believe solo was one of the first to paint his mudguards black. I was going to do the same a few months ago, but the day I took them off, my mom threw them away....

Well for the gills I took them off and removed the stupid ass black inserts then cut holes in the fender so they look like functioning gills.
Now what you guys are missing is first you will only paint them once every two years or so with this trim paint it is made just for this application, and second why waste the time using Black Magic or any other products. This trim paint still looks nicer than the back to black coatings. You dont paint the parts while they are still on the car either. 3 bolts on each mud guard and they come right off. Also I painted some select items under the hood too. They look great. Like the day I bought it, maybe a little better. Not to shiny or dull they are perfect for what I was looking for. I painted the oil cap, clutch fluid cap, washer fluid cap, the fuse box cover and most importantly the front grill and the cover that fits right on top. I didnt want a shiny coating it does what it says it matches it closely to new. I took some pics but it does not show the difference too well, but in person it really looks nice.
One question, how do you get the dam plastic piece that runs along the bottom of the front windshield off? Its has some clips but I have not taken the time to study it yet.

I purchased new mud flaps for my Tiburon to spray them to match the body color. I bought matching paint and I've got one sprayed and hopefully complete the rest of them over the holiday. I think it will look good when they are all completed. If not, the boring black ones go back on.

Been thinking about doing that for a while now. You had to cut holes in your fenders to open up the gills? I thought it was just a black plastic piece that could be popped out.

Got any pictures of it?

Ok, you're probably all going to laugh at this, but to remove oxidation on plastic or whatever buildup like wax, use the cheap, plain crest toothpaste. Get a stiff toothbrush and scrub the hell out of the plastic. Then use whatever treatment like Meguires. How do I know this? I am a scuba diver and we use crest to remove the foggy film that builds up on our masks. My rodeo has a plastic panel on the rear window that oxidizes easily so I tried it one day and it worked like a charm. Haven't tried it on the mud gards yet on my tib since they still look good, but it is worth a shot.
