As most of you know I do not own a stock sub... but I have a friend that is hooking up the stock sub to a aftermarket amp... and I'm trying to figure out what the neg / pos wires are coming from the stock sub

2 green wires and 2 black wires --

my guess was 2 black twisted together = negative, 2 green twisted together = positive... but before I do something stupid like, blow the sub by hooking up the wrong wires... could someone tell me what two sets are neg /pos... right/left black/green, what ?

Kal-El, Mr.Tibb, someone ?

Well first of all...I might be mistaken but simply reversing the polarity of the speaker isn't going to "blow the sub." Should just sound better one way vs. the other. Either it will be in phase our out of phase, right?

Yeah, i think your right, should still work if reversed, just sound like crap. Jason.

I remember reading in the old forum that someone opened the sub box and found that the black wires go to the positive terminal and the green to the negative terminals of the speaker (opposite to what I'd expect).

Easiest way to determine correct polarity is to touch a battery (like a "D" cell) to the wires going into the sub box and look though the grill to see which direction the cone moves when the battery touches the wires. If the cone moves outward, whichever wires the positive of the battery is touching should be used as the positive wires.

That is correct, did the install today... they are wired oddly enough backwards from a normal wiring config...

Black wires are Positive
Green wires are Negative...

Which kinda makes sense... in the fact that the green on the trunk light is the negative... but it has a red for the pos... who knows, sometimes korea is ass backwards ;)

i've said it many, many times before and i'll say it again:

hyundais are wired by the wrong korea
more than should be, there are shorts all of the tibs... not just on my car... not just on the 03's either... LOL --- I went down to the dealership and showed the dealership a few things they didn't know... lol...

Interesting discovery........Can you give me an example of one?

Trunk Light, Glovebox Light, (actually my glove box light is kinda cool, since it has teh short in it, when my bass hits it goes to the bass... lol) the wires on the driver side hidden on the left side (near the pedals) behind the trim, clock radio I've seen shorts in 2 cars (none my own), shorts in some of the door switches... I know theres more... trying to think...

SO what does it mean when they say our SUB has two voice coils? IF I hook up the D cell to each set of wires (one black&one greeen) seperately will I be able to see the cone move both times, or do I have to use both pairs of wires together??
