Well if anyone of you people have had there tib over 140 mph then you'v beaten me. and your also a crazy a$$ mofo. because 140 is fast. especially with two WRX on the Turn Pike at 3 a.m. good times good times. i will never have my car up over 100 again. at least not untill i get a kit and lower the car some because it gets really light i mean easy to turn the wheel.

 

hehe, yeah, I once did 135 mph @ 2:00 AM from Cedar Key to Gainesville.... 60 deer on that road that night, had to break fast... and it was foggy as hell!!

 

is the 21st the weekend of gasparilla? if it's not, i'm definitely there.

yeah, i'm in my 4th year at uf. my mom got me a blue 2003 v6 tib late december, so i love the car...
one problem though. it's shiftronic. she got a really good deal on it and i couldn't really say no, and the interior was leather, so i figured i'd take the car and eventually swap out the transmission on my own. the car's great, but i wish i could really drive it.
i think i'm gonna go to the hyundai dealership here on north main and ask them what i can and can't do to the car (through them, if i have to), and how much a transmission swap would be... maybe i'll luck out, and they'll know of someone that has a manual and wants my transmission. anyone care to throw out a ballpark figure on getting a tranny swapped? i haven't done anything to it yet, but i'm looking forward to having a fast car :biggrin: i've heard the rumors about an official hyundai turbo, so i guess i'll do NA mods until that happens. injen cai (can you put your own valve on this, since people swear the injen gives better performance, but people normally go with the aem for the valve?), a catback, maybe ecu? slightly fatter (8.5" maybe?) 18" wheels would be nice too...

p.s. who owns the white tib with teh kid in g'ville? first time i saw it, my friend and i were confused as hell... i'm like "dude, i think it might be one of the new tiburons... but i'm not sure." now i'm starting to see a couple of more tibs, but only maybe 2 of 'em have had work done on them.

 

Sinner, it is just a waste of money to get a tranny swap. Face if you have an Auto, now take advantage of it, there are some thigns you can do to make an Auto fast. the fastest cars on the planet are autos, when you get to a certain HP, Manuals are worthless. If you need any advice on mods etc, hit me up on IM orpm or jsut check out the performance section

yeah, i've heard an auto's better in some respects, but i learned how to drive stick on a truck and had fun with it, and i drove my friend's vw jetta vr6 and i fell in love with driving manual cars... i mean, the shiftronic thing might as well not be there, cause it ends up causing more problems: i've frequently gone from 4th to 2nd cause when i wanted to downshift, the car did it on its own and it then accepted my downshift (there should really be like a 2 second time frame where it doesn't accept downshifts after it's shifted down).
i was a little reluctant in taking the car cause i knew it would be a big deal to swap out the transmission, so i'm still trying to hold on to that, but you may be right.
