Have you guys ever been judged by others because of the fact you own a Tiburon? I know I have, and as much as I try to ignore it, it still really gets on my nerves. Many of my "buddies" ask, "Why do you drive a Hyundai? Why can't you get an RSX, Civic, Celica, Z, EVO, WRX, or an SRT4?" Another thing that bugs me is having people tell me how to mod my car. One asked me, "Why are you spending $200 on an Injen intake? Why don't you just fab one up using PVC piping and strap a cone filter on?" That really turned me off so much. I am NOT a ricer and I am NOT planning on any rice type mods :3_plzdie: . It just drives me up the wall so much I just want to punch a hole in one right now. I know many of you have stories to share as well, but I just needed to vent out my frustration tonight. It has been long days and nights for me.

I love my Tib and I know it's crazy to deal with all the frustration from others. I know that I'm gonna have to "bite the bullet" and live through what I have for now. I'm not giving up on the car, not an idiot to do that (besides, I'm still making payments on it). But it is hard to deal with others sometimes.
Just tell them to keep driving their rice rockets with their PVC intakes and you'll stick to your nice Hyundai Tiburon. They are probably just jealous and are trying to bring your car down to their ricey level.
I have fun with it, my sig on my local forum says "I drive a chick car" lol and the epic quote "I just lost to a hyundai" haha

I really don't worry about what people say. and if they do say something that gets to me I just think about what I can do to make my car better then thiers. I can't wait till I get my sniper so i can show them what a tiburon can do
LMAO, and we do have a LOT of those.......for whatever reason.
At any rate, I could not care less what anyone thinks of my Tib, and the compliments I get far outweigh the biased opinions of the few people I might run across who might not approve of the car.
Besides, if you spend your life trying to gain the approval of people who's opinions count for very little anyway, then you'll never be happy, because you can't please everyone.

That's the point; I bought the Tiburon not only because it was within my price range but I liked how the car stood out from others. Sure it may not be fastest car choice, but it was a choice of a car that I could enjoy driving for the next 5+ years. Everything else was overpriced with high miles. Don't get me wrong, I am proud of having my Tib and I take pleasure driving it every day.
Just remind them that your car will get the attention of 98% more women that you pass by then their cars, while their cars will get the attention of Jailbait.

Im not a track driver, and my I4 is plenty of fun for me, although I regret not going for the V6 we need to take other things into consideration
and honestly, the whole "Why a Hyundai??" comment, I had a full year to choose and discuss which car I wanted, couldve picked any of the above. They didnt have the balls to go after what they liked, they joined the heard of sheep to have a blanket of comfort over them-to not go what we go through rubbing dirt off our shoulders every day.
Lastly, I knew getting a car that was highly liked by others and less liked by me would never give me the satisfaction of stepping into a car that I chose, under my standards

Honestly out of that list of cars the only 2 I like is the 350Z and the WRX STI. Everything else is pretty much crap imo.

I got nothing but compliments when I had my tib, but I did get the stupid Hyundai jokes which drive me crazy. I bought my tib because IMO it was good car for the money, had a warranty, and it was dirt cheap on insurance. I bought my tib when I was 17, I can't imagine paying insurance on an SRT4 or evo being 17 years old.
I get alot of **** from my buddies because 3 of them have 240's and 2 of those have SR20 swaps, so of course I'm not in their league and they make sure to let me know on a daily basis how hyundai's are cheaply made and tibs are slow and frankly, they're right, but I'm not just all about speed, it's nice to have a quick car and yeah if I had my choice I'd love a RWD/AWD car like an EVO or WRX or a 350Z but it's just not pheasable right now. And I don't have to tell you guys that the tibs look like sex, and what good is a 240 with an SR20 if its rusted out and has no A/C and 160,000 miles on the body that looks like 500,000 on the interior.
I'm working my way up, I started with a cavalier, now I have the tib and I can only hope to exponentially leap towards bigger and better things.

Maybe it's just because people are nice out here, or because I have a quick Tib (since I've beaten or hung with the rest of the fast cars around here, cars you mentioned), but I rarely have any real issues with people saying stuff like that.
Jdlam, Automotib and I always make our rounds to the hot spots in the city every weekend and are very visible to the rest of the city's car community and we all receive a lot of compliments from a lot of other people. The only ones who talk crap every once in awhile are the real ricers, and their opinions obviously don't matter when you see PVC intakes and the like under their hoods.
I know it can get aggravating hearing it over and over from ricers, but part of choosing a means of self expression is the fact that not everyone will ultimately like your choice. If you really enjoy your car for yourself, you shouldn't worry about it. On the flip side, if you're that self-conscious about your car, sell it.

I guess the "Tokyo drift" guy missed the second installment of the movie when they are cruzing a Ripp Mod Supercharged tibby w/ the roof conversion... Honestly, if anyone has a clue about cars (or good movies for that matter) they would not bring up a statement written for a fictional character.

I might be slower than a civic w/ a 300 dollar nos kit, but at least i don't look like a civic with a 300 dollar nos kit! It's unique, and not many of them are on the road, and when you do so one, do you not look? I sure do. I have a few mods on mine and I turns heads everywhere I go. I think once I turbo it, they'll be reminded to think about when they say before they say something stupid... Keep representing guys!!! OH, and if they keep talking smack, show them the new Genesis Coupe... They'll hate still, but it's because they see their demise (sp?) coming within the next year or two!
