Ok...i installed my headers with 2 cudas monday morning...

...since the install my car has been acting funny. its been idling high...makes me let it warm up for a few minutes or the car will just jerk itself...sounds like i have aftermarket cams now, but i dont...

idk wtf is going on....i just want it all fixed....

weird thing is i had the same EXACT problem minus the cam sound when i installed my s/c...

...problem there was i had the grey throttle sensor on the black, and the black on the gray...

...so after i swapped them back, all was well.

in this case, that was the first thing i checked...and sure enough its on there right...

...i checked my other sensors...02 sensors...vacume leaks...everything and i just dont know wtf it is...

....and to top it off, i went to start my car lastnight...and it started, then the rpms dropped below 500 and then shut itself off....

...i was like wtf and tried it again, and it happened again...

anyone think maybe i need to clean the 1st o2 sensors or something? (is there any way to do it?)

any other clues of pieces of advice? anyone please?!

thanks.

k well any other ideas, b/c thats not it...butterfly seemed to be just in the right spot...

The computer is going to need some time to adjust. I am assuming you reset the computer right? Make sure it is reset and let it adle for awhile to adjust the low throttle fuel curves. How are your O2 sensors set up. The upper ones screwed into the headers but the lower ones seeing open air? Or are the lower ones screwed into the headers as well. Also how are the cables to the headers, are they twisted, did you maybe mess up one of the wires. If you accidentally fouled one of the O2 sensors that could give you problems as well. Check for vacuum leaks too.

how do i check for fouled 02s? ...how do i fix them?

wires should all be pretty straight...maybe 1 or 2 turns at most...

and as for the upper IM, i have a s/c...but i made sure there werent any leaks coming from there (from experience...lol)

oh and yea i reset the comp...bout 3 times now...

...and the car has been done since monday...im sure it woulda learned everything from then till now... (talking monday, july 5th...)

you need to get the specs on the o2 sensors and check the resistance with an ohm meter or get a multi functional electrical tester. Youll need to test the sensor on the vehical when its cool, then run it to temp. youll need to find the specs and check the ohm rating when its hot at what ever is stated in the sensors specs. other then swapping out a good sensor and seeing

^^that made me feel stupid...

...but to make me feel dumberer (lol) i found the problem...

...the oil return line connecting from the front valve cover to the s/c throttle plate...well the hose itself was split...so went to autozone and replaced.

still running slightly high, but the car is fine itself...so im sure now its just either a small leak or the car adapting to the headers. :)

thanks everyone!
