hey guys, i've had the aem cai for a long time and last time i cleaned it i used aem's official cleaner stuff that was fairly expensive. is there a cheaper alternative to cleaning my filter??? if not i'll just spring for the cleaning stuff again.

how often are you supposed to clean your CAI?
My K&N for my old Civic said at about 50,000 miles. I usually clean mine between winter & summer to get any salt/cinders off of it.

You can clean your filter with regular soap and water. If the filter requires oil, you'll have to apply it after it dries. I've heard of people using WD-40 as filter oil, but K&N says not to use it. But who knows if it actually deteriorates the filter or if they just want you to spend more money on their oil kits.
