Widest wheels that will fit?

I want to get some drag radials, but I'd like to get the biggest possible that will fit. What's the biggest rim that anyone has put on their car? I'm open to using spacers or shaving some of the inside wheel wheel. I've done that in my other car before.

I would say 8.5 is as wide as you can go. Thats what I've got, and a centimeter either way would have them rubbing on all kinds of sh!t or sticking out from the sides of the car. So, yeah, 8.5. :3_smile:

Right, but if we are talking about on a stock body (and I assumed we are), there would be no chance of 9.5" wide wheels fitting. 8.5" wide would be the max on a stock body Tib for both front and rear.

What is the widest possible you can push the tires out? Say you have 9.5 on all four, and push each wheel out a few inches to be flush with a wide body kit.

I assume you use shims or spacers, but I don't know how that works. Does it just thicken the area where the wheel bolts on, or is it something else? How wide could one theoretically take the wheelbase on a Tib?

Thanks. The talk of extreme fitment sounded promising. The info did help me understand the terms, but I didn't find answers to my question.

From the info that I have found, it sounds like offset is the answer. If you bought rims with a zero or negative offset, that would make the wheels stick way out, especially with wide 9" wheels. So a negative offset would be the way to take the wheelbase to the theoretical limit of width. Of course... it would take a custom wide body mod to make it look good and be able to turn the wheels. ;)

Now the question is, if someone put the max negative offset wheels on a Tib, would it do harm to the suspension in any way? :2_idea:
