why not get one from a sponser?
twm has 5 speed shifters, so will ark soon so give an example

 

give a example? i love supporting sponsors i just bought a bunch of stuff from midnight and diode but just doesn't seem smart to spend alot more money that i don't have if i don't nee to honestly how much are there sts's this one is only 35$ if it fits

 

i got a 5 speed 07 gs i4 been looking for a short shifter and came across this big question is will it fit, if not i'm just gonna cut down my stock shifter rather then spend 100+ on a sts

How would the shift knob fit if you cut your stock shifter? Doesn't the shifter get wider farther from the shift knob?

 

rethreading it cuts it to any size you need i just don't think it will reduce the throw just make it look shorter. which i guess is kinda rice if it is not reducing shift but it will give me the look i want so at the same time it does have a purpose

 

bumping for more opinions will it fit?

The BassTib STS was a cut down stocker, rethreaded ... which I have, and yes, the throw is shorter.

lol, but seriously, there are no guarentees on ebay. remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. my friend with an integra bough an sts on ebay and it wasn't even close to fitting. so i personally think it would be worth it to go with quality, but it is your decision all the way, just speakin from past experience

there are some things good to buy on ebay, and some things not so good...I personally think you should now get an sts off ebay just because of fitment problems and low quality

 

k then i will just save my money and cut mine down and rethread it.

 

I think thats a low cost, safe plan...you still get a shorter throw just not as good as a high performance sts...you could either save your money for something else, or save it up for a quality sts

 

now looking at it the 00-01 sts look alot like the 5 speed shifters in our gk's any one know if they are the same

 

Don't waste your time. I can guarantee you that an ARK or System Upgrade shifter (both of which are crap and I do not recommend anyone buy) are both better quality than the stuff you will find on ebay for $35.

Cut it down to size if you want to save a buck, or get a TWM. Aside from finding a Basstib shifter somewhere (like stated above, a chopped/rethreaded stock shifter) there should be no other option for a 5 speed.

 

ya i'm already looking at spending at least another grand on my car so it would be nice to save all money possible but i just keep buying stuff lol

oh and I saw your thread on the shift knob.........don't buy a knob unless it is heavier than stock. And for that you will pay quite a bit. The stock knob is quite heavy by itself, anything else you find that isn't weighted will be a downgrade.

 

k i'm gonna look more into it later tonight i got to go to work and pay for this stupid expensive great habit
