OMFG.....I just got done installing the Injen SRI on my car....Shoot I had all the neighbors outside looking to see what was making all the noise... :3_puhbye:
That was the most awesome thing I had ever heard. The sound is unreal. It makes my baby sound soooooo mean... :3_devil_w
The difference is unbelievable. Easy install....no problems....no CEL....I love it. But, I do have a question????? I feel a bit of a bog down for just a second when I nail it from a stop, is that normal for awhile, until the computer gets use to the new mod??? It is not real noticeable, just a quick boggin feeling then it comes alive. Will it straighten out??? please say that it will...lol. Let me know.

I had the battery completely out, and from what I have understood, this would reset the ECU. And as far as driving normal for awhile, WOT is normal driving for me....and so I didn't baby it, I immediately drove the **** out of it....so will it adjust???

how long did you have the battery out?
The ECU does keep a charge for awhile even with the battery out. Might want to disconnect neg term and then press on brake pedal for 10-20 seconds just to be sure.

and get rid of that damn smiley in your sig...

Is that better??? I just figured out how to get rid of it, it was kinda annoying :3_yes:

110 bucks, 9hp in first gear, 5 in second, less noticable after that. You can get them from the member groupbuy section of our Marketplace

as for boging down. is it actually bogging like sputtering? Because when I got my intake on, it feels slower down low in the RPMs when you get on it, but once the RPM's get up you're good to go. I have a 6 speed BTW.

Well, ok the bogging down is not like it is sputtering or anything like that. It is just like, when I get on it hard from a stop, it just kind of boggs or hesitates for a second....and yea I kinda agree...it seems like I actually lost power in the lower rpm's....when it opens up it has more power than it did before sri....but I thought from reading on here, that a sri would help more with lower end power...not so much higher rpm's??? I am kinda confused....but man it sounds mean as hell... :3_devil_w

once you hit 3k you should be doing well. and as long as it doesnt sputter or anything, it sounds perfectly normal. If you're anything like me, when you get the car back from a shop, you tend to think that everything that is different is something wrong (I just got a new clutch and flywheel). I dont really remember my car stock, but my friend just got an intake kit on his 4 banger 3g eclipse, and when his engine is revved low, like below 2k, it is what I would consider bogged down, but once it gets a little higher up, definitely an improvement.

I can't wait...my girlfriend just ordered me an Injen SRI for Christmas.

Are they hard to install if you don't know much about engines? I have a friend who's a mechanic, should I just have him do it so I'm sure nothing is done wrong?
with the directions its very easy to do. If you aren't feeling confident enough, invite your friend over to watch you install it, and to make sure you dont mess anything up (not that you really can).

Congratulations on the Injen SRI....you will love it.....like he said, there is really nothing that you can do to mess things up....I did it in probably 90 minutes total....and most of that was spent on cleaning up the engine bay a little and talking to my son....so you will do fine....ENJOY....you will be amazed how the beast will sound....woot....woot.... :3_devil_w

hey nice purchase. i have been enjoying mine for about 9 months now. i did trip a cel.... but not in ohio :) it was in the mountains of pitt. just ignore the P0171 and P0174 :) anyways, about the "bogging", yea mine does that too. Not so much in low gears. i think it might be an auto related thing. i too have an auto. if i am in 4th and jam on the gas the engine def feels like it gets drowned in fuel b4 the rpms get up. the easiest way to get around that is if you want to do a hard accelerate, use faketronic. here is where i notice it most, when i am in 4th gear at a lesser speed (40mph?) and jam on the gas. the auto will drop you into the low rpm range of 3rd gear. booo. when in reality there is plenty of power left in 2nd from 4K - 5500. So its not so much as a boggs down thing. i dont have any problems from a stop though. what i normally like to do from a stop if i know i want to go hard is stay in 1st till about 2800 rpm then pounce. feels really nice.

and once again, those who have not seen my recordings of the sound of the sri... here ya go:

(you will hear a lil bit or road noise in this one. those clicks are the tires going over the joints in concrete)

(this one was taken in an underground garage. the echo actually kills the sound rather than helps it...still pretty good though)

i too have the injen sri, its nice and mean and actually pretty practical, especially if you live in the snow belt... but in respose to the original post, Intakes do not help low end power, in fact stock intakes are designed to increase low end power and quiet all that racket. what you are doing with the SRI is adding power at the top end of the rpm band so yes in comparison the low end will feel bogged. totally normal. i can jam the go pedal at 1500rpm in 2nd gear and wont break traction till about 3500. read dave coleman's column in sport compact car magazine... hes a wealth of general beginner tuner knowlege, which we all need sometimes, unlike other (japanese)tuner rags.

just to warn u, u will get flammed for that post b/c ur totally wrong.

edit, not to be an ass and to explain myself, i dont get how an sri has anything to do w/ the snow belt... unless ur thinking b/c it sits in the engine bay it doesnt draw in as cold air......which is decent i guess. and yes man, they do help ur low end power. the sri is for low end power, the car is for higher end power. and yes i agree stock boxes are designed to keep things quiet, but they do so by restricting air.

I can agree with the part about dave coleman. I'm not sure why he get so much hate from the readers, he knows his stuff pretty well.
