alright so I've never replaced my cabin air filter and my A/C smells like crap so I went ahead and bought myself a replacement filter and the KDM passenger cup holder (since they're in the same place)......first of all the cup holder, just like many people have said before, was a PITA to installed.....anyway after I finally installed the cup holder (was only able to secure it with 3 out of the 5 bolts), i opened up the cabin air filter box and found that there was NO FILTER! Can someone look at the picture and tell me if I put the air filter in the correct slot? Im sure there isnt any type of filter anywhere in there and this look like spot the air filter should go in......I'm pissed whichever dealer that was supposed to replace my filter didnt put one in! so who knows how long I've been breathing in unfiltered air!

I cannot find any info on a cabin filter, but that does not look right. I'll research this more when I get home, but I'm off for now...

HAHAHAHA....that totally does not look like the right filter. That looks like the one you throw under the hood, it drops in. Tiburons did not come with cabin air filters BTW.

You need Purolator P/N: C4552 from LowSonoma1999.

looks like I pwn'd myself.....man...i just put everything back too.....

there're 6 screws holding the glove box at least for the 03's....mine dropped right down after the screws are loose probably because the clips/tabs have already been broken off.....

True you need to get the correct filter, but that only filters in comming air. If your A/C smells then either the drain tube is plugged or you are not running the vents shortly with the A/C off before shutting the car off. This allows condensation to disapate from the vents instead of building up moisture to mold inside. Just my .02 cents!

like stated above, since you didn't have a cabin filter to begin with, the smell is probably on your Evap core. There are core cleaners out there, its a foam that expands and cleans it. This would be a good thing to do if you have a bad smell. After you do that, install a cabin air filter......

That is the 1st time that I've ever seen an intake air filter in there.....that's great!!!

i had a good giggle at this one, sunny.....

but yeah, USDM tibs (at least 03-04) didnt come with a filter.... so its hard to be mad a the dealer for not replacing a non-existent (at least domestically) part ;)

one of the reason I thought some dealer forgot to place one there was because 1 of the 2 clips on the door of that cabin filter opening is half broken off so someone (not me) must've messed with it.....

but yeah...the Walmart air filter catalog owned me....I mis-read the "air filter" column for the tiburon instead of the "cabin" column (which was empty).....

and thanks for the tips on how to clean the evap core....

oh no, but they will tell you they need to replace it, and charge like 70 bucks... to which I said that the us tibs don't come with one and the guy was like, but err, I mean, we meant we will ADD one for 70 bucks... caught in another lie like the weasel he was!

can't stand people like that... I made him look like a douche, it was great... small meaningless victory ftw!
