Whaaaaaaat? No... I've seen kits for sale by Alpine post-'07. I'm sure of it.

I just did some quick research. Alpine Developments did not go out of business, but in 2008, they did go back to South Africa. They still make kits and ship to many countries, including the US.

Even if you could get ahold of them I would NOT do business with them. Poor customer service, delay after delay, last I heard from someone in SA they were charging roughly $13,000USD after exchange rate for a kit. I think I was lucky to get mine in 1-2 months. A lot of things I ended up buying outside of kit just to make it work.

I probably wouldn't do business through them directly, anyway. I'd probably try to buy it from another site offering the Alpine products. Buying a supercharger system for the Tib that costs twice what a Tiburon costs... now that's funny.

whoever told you that a turbo is bad for dd is wrong. Its better for you than a supper charger fuel economy wise.

If you can get a good/cheap custom turbo going, that might be the route to go. If your friend can fabricate, manifolds are manifolds. Turbo systems are basically the same for all cars, if he can make a custom kit for one, he can make a custom kit for another, that is if he's truly doing custom systems. If he's just getting 2nd hand parts and throwing them on a honda motor, thats a different story.

For s/c, it doesn't really matter, NGM is still in business though, so if you go new NGM would be your only route. If you get an alpine, NGM has parts that'll make it better, faster, stronger.

Good/Cheap/Fast, you can only have 2.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ALPINE OR ONE OF THEIR DISTRIBUTERS. If you do you are asking for a world of trouble and would be just enabling their horrible business habits and shoddy customer service. You've been warned. If you want you can pay me for an Alpine kit and I won't give you a dang thing in return. Would be no different. lol

ya dude, a custom turbo imo is way more expensive than a s/c. You have to buy the kit which is about $2500, then all the supporting mods which is around another $1000 and then all the tools or labor to install which range from anywhere from $400 - $1000
ehhhh, not exactly. If you buy a kit already put together, then yes, it can be expensive. But, I honestly think it's pretty even between the two. To make what a duffer turbo kit makes, you'd need a stage 2 s/c, which, is in the neighborhood of 3K+. And no matter which route you go, you'll still need supporting mods (I/H/E/tuner/wideband/injectors, etc.) except you can drop headers and intake for a turbo setup.

But, if you have the know how, and the access to the tools you need, you can piece together a turbo kit for under $1500 (same quality as Duffer's kits). I've actually almost got all my parts and I'll be fabbing and welding the hotpipes myself. I'm getting the same exact turbo that duffer includes in his kits, btw.

I have a close freind here that could put a turbo on pretty cheap.
Yea, this guy has worked on alot of honda's and he has alot of parts from builds he can get me so might not be cheap for you all but cheap for me, lol, but what would be better to go with Alpine or ngm
:bsflag:

unless hes fabing all your parts for free I dont see this happening
especially for "cheap"

Nope not BS he works in a machine shop and if needed he could fab parts, he helped me with my clutch and header install, he does exellent work, but I had no itention of going F/I untill I got out ran in a caddilac.... kinda hurt my pride, so NGM has a base kit at 2700 ill start there and work my way up, i would like to eventually have 250/hp/trq more then enought power for me, so and input for some 1 with 0 experince in SC more then welcome to help/critize.

stage 0 and 1 ngm superchargers are pretty much the same thing only difference is that the stage 1 comes with an intercooler... once i get my s/c im not gonna cheap out or cut ends.. im gonna go with the with the stg.1 to be on the safe side... to support the stg.0 or 1 kit your going to need intake, headers, exhaust, solid motor mounts, tune, strut bars, and probably some upgraded injectors

Get the stage II iced sniper with the reflash, that will get you 280-290whp. Should be OK on stock block, but you might want to put aside some money every month for a built block.
With the reflash, you don't really have to do anything tuning wise, unless you get a tuner to make some minor adjustments. Its basically: pull your stock manifold, swap injectors, throw on the supercharger, reflash, wham bam thank you ma'am. And the only caddy you'd have to worry about are the CTS-Vs.

For a stage 0 or 1 you need exactly zero supporting mods. I would highly recommend stronger motor mounts though.

Everything else (except injectors which aren't necessary) will be helpful, but not needed at all for the stage 0 or 1.

Basic custome turbo kit with everything you need for supporting mods will cost the same as a stage 0 or one (even cheaper if you shop right) but yield around 260-290 whp or more.

not to be a jerk but if you cant figure out the difference between sc stages ..you should deff stay away from a turbo setup. its a money pit and needs constant upkeep....my tibby spends more time in my driveway on stands then it does on the street and at this point ive replaces allmost everythin under the hood haha...go stage 1 for the cooling ..reflash and call it a day ..dont get in over your head with something you dnt understand...just what i think ..good luck either way!
