If you have the DIY in-hand you should be ok.

Take your time, and expect to scrape up your knuckles. If it's your first time doing them it'll take about 8 hours. If necessary you can break that up into 2 days to save your sanity.

Have lots of WD-40 on-hand.

Label EVERYTHING you take off.

I remember the first time I did headers it was a little overwhelming... sheesh, I've done 4 sets now, the last time it only took about 3 hours to do a full engine-back install for crocadilen.

Yeah, I have a full can of WD-40.

Today Im just wanting to take everything off atleast. If I can get all the stock parts off I'll be pretty happy.

Tommorow i'll put the new headers on unless I get everything off easier than I expect to today.

Edit- Waiting for my engine to cool down, going to start in about 30 minutes.

If you have mechanics gloves, wear them. You'll thank yourself later... because the cost of the gloves is roughly equivalent to the cost of the Neosporin you'll need to purchase for your hacked-up hands afterwards.

very true!

and next time get PB Breaker instead of WD 40...... its 10x better

just take your time, try not to round any bolts/nuts thats the worst!

Hope you have a 12mm ratcheting wrench with a swivel head. Having that really helped with a lot of the weird angels you have to deal with. Just did my headers yesterday with the help of Guambomb.

10,000% agree, even if you only use it for that one bolt under the A/C compressor.

Yeah I did mine about 2 weeks ago, It was a bit easier for me b/c I had a lift but it wasn't too bad. The one bolt under the ac hose and the heat shield on the rear manifold are a pita.

you might want to get some anti-sieize on the o2 sensors too. you never know when you'll throw a CEL and need to replace the o2s.

As stupid as it sounds lefty loosey, righty tighty. I'm amazed at how many people have broken studs. I've been doing bikes and cars for many years, and have even broken a few wrenches, but very few studs. This leads me to believe some people are getting confused when reaching behind the manifold, or upside down under the car, and turning the nuts the wrong way, breaking studs, etc..

Leverage is deffinitley the key to getting some of the bolts / nuts off. If you don't have a long enough handle for some of them then use your imagination ie when doing some coilovers we used my Maglight flashlight for added leverage!

You don't have to vent the A/C and you don't have to move the alternator at all. I would be over there to help for sure but too bad your not in San Diego. hehe

breaker bar for leaverage helps. WD40 is good too. PM me if you want my # for help because you probably don't want to be walking back and forth to the comp and your car all the time.lol.

Good luck and don't panic if anything goes wrong. Just hit your self on the head with the wrench..lol. j/k.

+1

Placing anti-seize on O2 sensor threads is very smart. Also a good idea to take a circular wire brush and clean the O2 sensor bung hole threads while you're at it.
