Hi,

I am reinstalling an old amp and sub that i use to have in my old car, which worked fine. The wiring was all still in place from my old system/basslink and was working fine. I went to replace the basslink with the amp and everytime i try to power up the stereo the fuse at the battery pops! Now i have only tried this 3 times now coz i have run out of spare fuses. 1 - It popped... 2- i checked all the wiring and it went.. 3- i checked the ground feed was secure, stripped to bear wire coz the connection(metal round bit) was poor and checked the other end was going to ground ok and it popped

Now i am not a professional at these things so bear with me... I am not 100% that the ground was touching as well as it could have been.... would that be the prob... should i get a proper connector and try again

Any other help would be great....

Or is the amp screwed?!

if you arent grounded properly you coul keep blowing fuses, i would first check and make sure that that is al taken care of just to be sure. improper ground will also screw your amp in the long run. another thing to check if that wiring has been in there for a while like you said is to check to make sure that your power isnt shorting anywhere. there could be a crack in your power wire somewhere or a fray of some sort. also if the power and ground are near each other on your amp if they are stripped back to far at the connection the power could short agaisnt the ground causing you to blow fuses. your amp should be fine becasue your amp has its own set of fuses to protect itself from damage.

I think your power wire is grounded somewhere.

Ok ok... strange stuff... IT blows when i use my 800Watt amp... but when i put my old basslink back in it doesnt blow... just the thing is screwed and dont work

is it worth getting a new amp now? or active sub or something?

if the basslink is messed up, then get somthing new. amp/sub or poweredsub isnt the question, its how much bass you want to get is the question?

true true... i will need to bite the bullet and spend some of my cash on something new instead of trying to use my old equipment!! :3_steam:

Got some guy on ebay wanting to sell some JBL stuff that i might take a look at. cheap price too!!!
