lol mine shut the engine off, hence the secod battery.

You don't need to bypass the cap. Use it. But if the drain is to much, it might kill the cap then goto the batter, that could be causing it.

Check the voltage of the cap when your playing music.

At no drain I am around 14.5 at full power I am dipping as low as high 11.8's at times. I seem to have the voltage (a little weak), so I should have the power, but maybe I don't have the amps to back it anymore! I am driving down the highway with the car at 3k RPM's, and this still happens, so I know it is spinning the alternator fast enough, just not enough to keep up with the power needs. I am going to have to check the amount of amps the alternator is giving out and see if it is just weak!

my audio guy just got home from Newfoundland , so I just had a converstaion with him about it . he said right away it's the cap. That the cap is not rechargeing.

so I am going to try to just delete it for now and see what happens , in the mantime ill be buying a gell cell tonight also

I run a 4 gauge wire, 100 amp fuse, to a block, then to 2 8 gauges. and thats to 2 fosgates. i was able to get the ohms down to about 2. somtimes lower. im hoping 1.5 stable. but so far no problems. im getting slight dimming. but soon ill toss in my 20 farad cap, my optima
(possible 2) and then the high output alternator.

hmmmmm.....what other things have you tried? what everyone else has suggested?

i think you subs are the issue. im not to sure, im not a mtx guy. more fosgate and MA. but i think the amp is shutting itself off under protection. im not sure, but i think you got way to much of a load on that amp. 2 2ohm loads on a 2/4 amp is alot.... its getting enough power. a good 8 guage wire can easily do 800 watts. and a 4 is a good 1100 watts. im going to call my partner who does installs with me, and ill see what he knows. hes more kicker though. id say if you were closer i can test it at work. but ill get the facts for sure....

do you have a pass thru on the amp? run double amps. and turn them down. as well as bridge. cause non bridges there 4ohms. bridged is 2 ohms.

bridge your subs together that may help. but i don't think it would be the subs itself may have something to do with the impedence. go bridge or go home. :)

What was the issue? I am going to try and run some spider legs (bunch of short pieces) off of my existing grounding point and see if it helps it any. If it does, then I am going to run a 0 gauge right up to the battery, and then I should be done, hopefully.

so what happened? yea we know it's a great thread but ummmmmmmmm what are the results?

sorry lol ...

can't really pinpoint the exact issue , but ill say it's a load problem at 2ohm's

I ran 0G wire from the batt to the amp and cap , direct

put in the gel cell batt , re did the grounds to new self taping screws and washers

and bridged the amps togther , so far so good !

ill keep you posted if anything goes wrong.

I guess now it's time for an alternator

thanks guys !

big help , and a very informative thread , again thanks for the help

cheers ,

chris
awsome. great to hear youve got it going. 0 gauge is hard to run for those who have never done it. due to the extreme thickness adapters will be needed to reduce the size of it to be usable. as well as a much larger fuse.so ull need new hookups for the battery. and do it direct to the battery. and make sure your ground is the same size as the power cable going to the amp. not the one going into the distrabution block...
