Newbie question here. I just bought my 2004 tiburon a week ago, it has 30,000 miles on it (v6 gt). When I first start the car it likes to stutter under aceleration till about 30 seconds or so the engine has been running. I bought it at car max and the sales man said they would have replaced the spark plugs but im not %100 sure. I here the tiburons run rich and I was thinking that a hotter or better plug coul make a small differance in performance and might help my cold engine.

Thanks for any comments

just get oem plugs...or ngk plugs. they should come pre gaped.
as far as the starting issue...let it warm up for 30 seconds and it should be fine :3_frusty:
might wanna take it to the dealer for a major service. just to start off fresh. that way you know what has been done to your car. if you take it in for a major service they should replace the spark plugs. stay away from cheap/no name gas.

I bought OEM plug wires for $55 and a set of NGK copper's for around $10. The copper plugs work really well, and the car runs very smoothly now.

Copper all the way, better and cleaner spark, but has to be replaced around every 2 oil chnges
Iridium just for having a good plug but you will never have to change them.
NGK Copper Race plugs all the way for me though

Copper spark plugs are guaranteed to last 30-40k miles...so more like every 10-13 oil changes...

iridiums are a waste of money...copper will do just fine! just check them every 6k and replace accordingly...been using NGK's for years!
yeah i know coppers are fine but iridiums last longer and it's winter and cold and I put alot of miles on the car so I don't feel like changing them so often. I'm sure the NGK iridiums are nice. It was only 6 bucks a plug, not too bad.

Sorry to derail the conversation, but I have a related question. I have a stock (though I'm planning on a SRI this year) '04 GT V6 with 26k mi on it. My brother bought me Denso Iridiums last Christmas and I have yet to put them in.

Here's my question... on a stock car, will Iridiums make any difference (not including purported butt-feel acceleration improvements)? It seems that a lot of Tib owners who have engine/exhaust mods use them, and I can see there would likely be more benefit to modified enginges... In other words, is it a waste to put them in my stock Tib?

Anyone with a stock Tib notice any improvements?
