It is pretty easy. Just follow the DIY or the instructions that should come with your CAI. Only basic tools (screwdriver, maybe pliers) and a little patience are needed. Do a search on here for CAI and you will find a wealth of knowledge about selecting and installing both CAIs and SRIs. What year is your Tib? I ask because the 07-08 models are a little different than the 03-06s. PM me if you need more help. I have installed two CAIs.

So easy, even a cave man could do it......just follow the DIY or the instructions you should get when you order it, and you'll be good to go. If you get hung up during the install, then post up and someone will help you.

I have an 08 tib and I have a few questions about cai systems. A buddy of mine has a Prelude with a cai installed. When it rains, he gets water all through the thing and it even stops him from driving during heavy rain storms. Is this due to poor installation? I believe he called it "hydro lock." I am very new to working on my cars so, I have a lot of concerns before I start messing around under the hood. I saw an AEM universal cai at my local Advanced Auto for a little over $100 and I thought about buying it. Is it worth it? I also saw a Injen cai there as well. I'm a little worried about clearance for a cai and if it will fit.

if you worried about hydrolocking then get a SRI.
Is hydrolocking a problem for you? I'm not worried as long as it doesn't prevent me from driving my tibby:3_wink:

Avoid large puddles and that sort of stuff? I read the DIY guide that is linked above. Is this about the same installation setup for a 08?

I've had a CAI on both my Tibs for a total of four years and have never had a problem. I've driven through flooding as deep as 6-8 inches. You would have to submerge the end of the pipe in standing water to get a hydrolock. But, as tibby T said, if you're worried get an SRI.

I had an SRI on my Accent. It didn't give me much power and I ran into heat soak problems. On hot days my little Accent just felt like all its 110 horsepower was drained. Thats what lead me here. Thanks for the help guys. I will have to pick up a Cai when I get some funds.

CAI install is very easy even with little or no mechanical experience.

With a CAI, just don't start your car if it is standing in a foot of water.

I'm not handy at all and I was able to install SRI. CAI is just as easy just a couple more steps.

Hey there, with basically no mechanical experience, even in the family how hard would it be for me to install a CAI by myself using one of DIY's around here? I read through one a couple times, it looked pretty straightforward, i guess ;)
i just put the injen cai on my 08 and its GREAT! no problems with any water or anything but pm if you have any installation ?s. took my buddy and i about 45 mins.

CAI is a cakewalk the hardest(if you could call something hard about this) part of the whole thing for me was getting the stock airbox out because i had a hard time getting some bolts off that were a little hard to reach at with my tools. Its a really straightforward install though and a great way to get into modding.

Like the other guys said if you have any problems just post them up here and someone will help you. A lot of nice people on the site.

Good luck!
