MEET ITINERARY

10:30 am - 3:00(ish) pm -- Coastal Hyundai
3:15(ish) pm - whenever -- Andretti Thrill Park

LOCATION INFO & MAPS

Where is Melbourne? Along the central-east coast, ~30 miles south of Cape Canaveral.
Image

Coastal Hyundai is located on US192 at 915 New Haven Ave W., Melbourne, FL 32901, on the southeast corner of the US192 / Dairy Rd intersection.

interactive map...

Andretti Thrill Park is at 3960 South Babcock St, (just before the corner of Babcock & Eber) and is literally only a few miles away from Coastal Hyundai:

DIRECTIONS TO COASTAL
(NOTE: These directions are generic guidelines, using the major highways. By all means, map your own route if you don't like these or if your location doesn't fit one of these.)

Northern East Coast -- I-95 South.
Central East Coast -- I-95 North/South as applicable.
Southern East Coast -- I-95 North.

Northern West Coast / Panhandle -- I-10 East to I-95 South
(Alternate: I-10 East to I-75 South to Turnpike South to 528 East to 95 South)
Central West Coast -- I-4 East to 528 East to I-95 South.
(Alternate: I-4 East to 417 North to 528 East to I-95 South.
Southern West Coast -- I-75 South to I-595 to I-95 North.
(Alternate: I-75 South to I-595 to Turnpike North to I-95 North)
Northern Central -- I-75 South to Turnpike South to 528 East to 95 South

Once on I-95, take exit 180 (US-192), and head east off the exit. About three miles in, Coastal Hyundai is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of US-192 and Dairy Rd.

Coastal Hyundai to Andretti Thrill Park:
- East on US-192.
- Turn right (south) on Babcock St.
- Andretti is on the right, just two miles down.

PARKING

Below is the layout of the Coastal Hyundai property. Shown in the yellow checkered outline is the lot Coastal has set aside for us. Note, there are 42 actual parking spots in this lot ... but we have more than 42 cars coming. There is extra space at the ends of the rows, plus some "overflow" parking in the adjacent sections (outlined in solid yellow).

Image

IMPORTANT! We will not enter the front of the dealership for a few reasons:
1) So we don't back up traffic on 192 when a large group of Tibs arrive...
2) The entrance in the back is much wider, and can be taken at any angle. The slope is very minor though, so angling may not be necessary. If required though, once again, we don't have to back up traffic on 192.
3) So we can stage the Tibs as required to allow time/space to park properly (and again, not block traffic). Derek will be handling the majority of said staging.

So...how do we get in the back way? Easy...follow the RED ROUTE on the map below.
1) Pass the dealership on your right.
2) Turn right onto Dunbar Ave., the first street on your right. (Note, the dealership has three driveways on 192, so look for the Dunbar street sign.)
3) Turn right onto Pegasus Ct. .
4) Make your first right into the service lot 2 driveway.
5) Pull straight ahead to the end of the building, where you will be staged for parking.

MEAL INFO

LUNCH: Coastal Hyundai will be providing pizza for us!

DINNER: We're on our own. I suspect those not heading home right after Andretti may end up getting dinner in the area. Melbourne has every restaurant chain/type known to man.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Please be as close to on-time as possible.
2) Please make a placard for your Tib! (See "Placard Info" section for details)
3) For Andretti:
-- Print out, sign, and bring your Andretti Thrill Park waiver. (See "Andretti Thrill Park Info" section for link to waiver.)
-- Pack closed-toe shoes.
-- Decide if you want a 2-hour or 3-hour pass.
4) When you arrive at the meet, check in with me after you've parked to get your nametag. Also, let me know which Andretti pass you want.

5) BE RESPECTFUL AND POLITE TO THE DEALERSHIP, ANDRETTI PARK, AND THEIR PATRONS! NO BURNOUTS IN THE PARKING LOT. NO DRUGS. NO RECKLESSNESS.
Coastal Hyundai is being gracious enough to host our meet. If we hope to have other dealership meets in the future, at Coastal or elsewhere, it is IMPERATIVE that we impress them. Also, people are kicked out of Andretti very often for reckless driving or messing with the motors. DON'T!!!
Word travels fast these days, and it can be good or bad.
-- If this goes well, we'll form a great relationship with Coastal. Maybe they'll sell a few cars because of us! (Just not TO us, at least until the RWDs come out.) Then, perhaps, we'll have dealerships contacting US, rather than vice versa, to host a meet!
-- If this goes badly, you'll hurt NT's image, the Southeast Region's image, my image as the meet organizer and a frequent customer of theirs, the image of anyone who helped me put this together (Mark, Derek, JC, etc), Derek's image as one of their techs, and the image of anyone who likes to customize their car.
PLACARD INFO

Creating a placard for your dashboard / windshield was a great new idea we incorporated last meet! With a placard of info about your Tib, if you're not nearby, people can still learn about your Tib and its mods.

Please include the following on your placard:
a) NT screen name
b) Real name (first only)
c) Location (e.g., "Cocoa, FL")
d) Tib year & version
e) Mod list

Recommendation: Build your placard in a graphics program, then have it printed as an 8X10 photo at Wal-Mart. This makes it look very professional!

For example:
Image

Hit up a fellow member if you're no good with graphics programs. I'd like to avoid lists scribbled on a crumpled piece of paper, if we can help it. (You know who you are... :3_headsha )

REGARDING OTHER CARS

At past meets, NT members (or friends of NT members) with other cars have come along. While I have no problem with this, non-Hyundai vehicles are not to park with us. This is a condition of having the meet at a dealership. The dealership stands to benefit by our presence by attracting potential customers. Having an Evo/TC/STI in our lineup does not support them. Therefore, all non-Hyundai vehicle drivers must park elsewhere and join the meet on-foot.

Elantras are acceptable; I've verified this with our primary contact at Coastal. (He hopes if we have Elantras, that they're modified in some way.)

AWARDS
There will be a few trophies awarded at the meet. Don't worry -- this entire meet is not a competition! (So don't feel pressured.) The trophies are just a little something extra. Based on the funding I received (and some out of my pocket too), five trophies will be awarded!

Image

(Note: Plates are brass-colored like chalices. Camera flash made them look silver.)

Categories:
Best In Show
Best Exterior
Best Engine
Dealer's Choice Award
Long Distance Award

Rules:
1) The dealership will be the judge(s), and their decisions are final.
2) By showing up with your Tib, you're automatically eligible for the awards.
3) No Tib can win more than once, with the exception of the Long Distance Award. (i.e., you can win the LD award AND one of the other awards, but you cannot win Best Exterior AND Best in Show) [The purpose of this rule is to allow more Tibs to win an award.]
4) Best in Show will be awarded to the Tib with the best all-around characteristics.
5) Best Exterior will be awarded to the Tib with the best exterior appearance.
6) Best Engine will be awarded to the Tib with the best business under the hood.
7) Dealer's Choice will be awarded to any Tib for any particular reason, as the dealership sees fit. (i.e., If there's something in particular the dealer really likes about your Tib, then you might win!)
8 ) Long Distance will be awarded to the Tib who has traveled the farthest to take part in our meet. If you think you might be the winner, keep an eye on your mileage. When you check in with me to get your name tag, tell me the mileage and the city/town from which you came. BE HONEST.

ANDRETTI THRILL PARK INFO

Andretti has four tracks. The first three are the Jr. Indy (a small oval slick track), the Super Speedway (a longer, figure-8esque track with an overpass), and the F-1 Extreme (a very long euro-style track). I've been on all of these, and they're extremely fun! You can buy a 2-hour, 3-hour, or 4-hour unlimited race wristband. Normally, the price for the wristbad

They've also got a new track, the Andretti Challenge, with much newer & faster carts. You actually need a driver's license to ride, plus you have to wear helmets! Of course, this track is more expensive -- $20 for one run. (I haven't been there since they built this one, but I've heard it's insane.)

For groups larger than 15, we have two options (since we probably won't do the 4-hour): A two-hour pass for ~$21.25 or a three-hour pass for ~$24.50. This pass is for unlimited usage of the three standard tracks (or their other stuff, like minigolf and lasertag). That excludes the Andretti Challenge though. However, if we buy an unlimited pass, the Andretti Challenge price drops to from $20 to $15.
(If we didn't do the time-based group rate, then each track is $6.50 - $7 per run, and $20 for Challenge.)

(This park hosts car shows in their spacious parking lot quite frequently, so it could serve as a good alternate site if we needed one -- like if Coastal Hyundai burned down or something.)

IMPORTANT FOR ANDRETTI!!!!!!
1) Closed-toed shoes are required to race the Andretti Challenge.
2) You must sign a waiver before they allow you to race. To save time, PRINT THIS OUT NOW, sign it, and bring it with you. The waiver is located at this link.

Their website is http://www.andrettithrillpark.com/ ... here's some of their pics:

CRUISE-IN STOP DETAILS

I-4 & 528
Image

Be at this spot by 9am.

I-95 Exit 208 - Port St. John
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE COMING FROM 528
When you're getting close to 95, the road will split. There will be signs showing I-95 north & 407 if you bear left, and I-95 south & 528 if you bear right. Although you will be getting on I-95 north to get to exit 208, DO NOT BEAR LEFT. BEAR RIGHT, TOWARDS 95 SOUTH. If you go towards 95 north & 407, you end up north of PSJ and can't get on 95 south from there (unless you hang a u-turn on a high-speed road with minimal shoulder). When you bear right and head towards 95 south (technically, staying on 528 ), there will be an entrance ramp to 95 north.

Image

Where to go when you get off 95

Image

(Note: The roads you'll be driving on are brand new. I've added them to the map, so they may not be exact in shape.)

Both exit ramps have arrows showing which way is towards PSJ West or East. Go towards west. The exits dump you off on Port St. John Pkwy.

At the end of PSJ Pkwy is a stop sign, at which you can only turn right or U-turn. This is Golfview. Make a right. (If you can turn right or left, then you're at Grissom and you went the wrong way. Hang a U and go to the other end.)

At your next stop sign (Fay Blvd), make a left into Fay Lake Wilderness Park.

It's a ridiculously small park, with a ~30 space parking lot. I'm not sure how busy the park gets on Saturday ... if the lot is crowded when I get there, then I might pull up on a short street on the left before the lot. As you know, my Tib is hard to miss, so just look for me.

did you show them any of the pics you took?.
Nope, I got by on my charming voice alone. lol ! I do plan to bring them some pics on my next trip down there, to give them an idea what to expect and to whet their appetite...

Rick said:
as far as ideas....... yeah, not gathering by color
I think the cars looked far better in a random arrangement like when we were at Grand Cypress
That's a good thought....will certainly help maintain individuality! Let people see your car as a whole, instead of 'ok the next one's white too' ....

Sweet! This thread has been up for only 24 hours, and we've already got 15 people! Keep it going!

If this meet gets as big as it looks like it will....there won't be a dealership in the state that would turn us down in the future!
