Homework assignment for people in this thread:

Does anyone have suggestions for music that would hit hard on 10's and would likely intrigue me? I'm into metal (I know, what a shock), some industrial if it has good hooks, what I can only describe as goth-infused trip hop (Kerli, Portishead, etc.), and I can handle a small amount of clever or intelligently written pop...it's a stretch though.

Techno/electronic doesn't really appeal to me, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. I hate trancy spacey music...it needs to be hard hitting and to the point. Lastly, I'm picky about the quality of the progressions in the song. It really needs to be clever and hooky. I know that is the science of pop, but for the most part the sound of pop just doesn't have enough balls for me. See why I'm asking? I can't help it, I'm frickin' hard to please.

depends, a summer afternoon? pop punk-all time low, cartel, mayday parade, blink 182, new found glory.

weeknights/after a long day at work/ or a really long drive-metal- All that remains, lamb of god, emmure, after the burial, between the buried and me, symphony x, rob zombie, braindrill, buckethead, death metal you get the idea.

mornings- jazz / talk radio

weekend nights - rap and techno to bump my subs XD

Hell yeah, even though I like their old stuff with Jesse Leach a little bit more.

I listen to just about everyone on your list actually. I wasn't a big Atreyu fan until I saw them at Projekt Revolution last year. They stole the show, blew me away.

Mood and time of day does really play a big role. I range from DMB to linkinpark and red man and method man to some dubstep. So just about anything.

My real answer in no particular order, as my tastes change over the years: Classic Rock, Rap/R&B, Trance, and Eurobeat. Those are generally the four that I switch around from. I almost never get sick of hearing Eurobeat songs or most Trance songs. I can get sick of hearing Rap songs, but given enough time without listening to it, the flavor for the song comes back - same can be said with Classic Rock, but usually if I get sick of a song, it will stay off my list for quite awhile because there is so much good classic rock out there.
