I just went through HLAs.. Run thinner oil not thicker... It needs to be able to get the oil pressure up to the HLAs.. I ended up buyin 36 of them haha replaced them all! All that noise came from one bad HLA.. good luck

 

yeah i was going to make the same suggestion. Thinner oil will help get the oil to the HLAs, and help get inside each one.

 

05gttibby, how much did it cost you to replace them all and how long did it take?

 

Can you tell what side it's coming from and how long has it been like this?

 

You're going to want to run a oil cleaner thru the engine, then swap to stock oil and filter.. a lot of times, the HLA's get full of gum and then won't flow oil...

Use something like this

Then install a Genuine Hyundai filter and proper weight oil

 

its been like this for prob 1000-1500 miles, and i can tell its coming from the back of the engine on the left side

 

the issue was lack of oil getting up there when my crank seal went, which is why I'm led to believe they are junk and they need replacement. just wondering how much it will cost to replace them, if cheap enough obviously ill do them all but if its pricey ill just do all the rears

 

I WATCHED THE VIDEO VERY CAREFULLY.. AND I SEE THE PROBLEM.. GET THAT DAMN CHEAP AZZ FRAM OIL FILTER OFF THAT ENGINE...

Run the cleaner, and put a genuine Hyundai filter and the proper weight oil in it...

i dont question your opinion at all i realize you know a great deal about these cars and i have put a oem filter on before and the proper weight oil and it still does the same thing, i will try the the cleaner today and see what happens

 

i have read your pst before about ticking as well, also i had hyundai put all new seals in because i had them do my crank seal, and they didn't even change my oil while they dropped everything and they put my Fram back on if they even took it off while they were doing it. when i saw the frame still on there i was puzzled because i would have thought for 550 bucks they would have at least put 20 dollars worth of oil and a 10 dollar filter on

 

well, the engine cleaning didn't do anything for my issue, i guess i will be replacing the lifters as i suspected. thank you all for your help

i guess my last question would be how much would it cost for me to replace all 24 lifters I'm 90 percent sure its the back two middle that are gone but if I'm in there, don't you think i should just do them all?

 

See.. Mine is no where near that loud.. it gets loud at high rpm with light pressure on the pedal.
Does it go away when you put a heavy load on it like mine does? It's weird ****.


Oh, and I don't think the cleaner would help you much if you still had the less than oem filter on it.. since the problem was the fram not being able to keep pressure high enough to feed the top, the same problem was happening with the cleaner in it anyways

 

i changed the oil with 5 30 and put an oem filter on it a few days ago, little quieter but still same issue, yes if i put a big load on it it will go away (well sounds like it but obviously not gone). when i rev it , it gets louder. I'm done trying to fix the issue with little stuff thats not gonna work, I've spent as much in oil in the past few months trying things for probably half the cols of what the lifters will cost me just gonna call hyundai and have them order me some tomorrow so i can get it done

 

Yeah I don't blame you hah. Good thing for me that yours acts the same as mine cause now I know what it is for sure
Will you take some pics when you get the valve cover off? I want to see what i'm dealing with exactly, if it isn't too much
