.... Seriously? You realize putting them in your High's is pretty detrimental to the bulb's life. With the constant turning on and off you'll be doing, they'll go pretty fast. Not to mention it'll be pretty pointless since it'll take a min for the bulbs to arc up every time you turn them back on. Really the only thing you should rock them in is your lows. I guess you could do fogs if you just want the color, but it'd still be a waste of money really. Although it's your car so do what you wish with it.

Yea you really don't need HID's in your high beams. You will be fine with just the low and fogs.

 

HIDs in the high beams are useless. It takes some time for them to warm up and most likely you won't need to use high beams if you have HIDs. I have 8K in lows and they give me plenty of light along with the 3K in my fogs. Even stock fogs with HID lows was great, never used high beams.

 

That is probably the most accurate picture of 8000k's I've seen on NT. Really shows how blue they are.

They are the almost exactly the same look as the HIDs that come on Acura's (TL, TSX) and those ones look pretty sweet.

brand does not matter. just the temp in degrees kelvin. 3000 = yellow. 5k staw likes lol 6k most ppl like. lexus heads are 6k and landrover too




4300 are said to be whitest but no blue.

8k are shown above blue but 8k and up are no good in fog and rain. ppl say they r fine. i just know generally hids are not as good as halogens in rain and fog

10k are super blue

12k are purply

15k are dumb
30 k are dummber

 

i beg to differ on brands, i think they matter alot as well. but u are right about the kelvin.
but i've seen many tibs in person with different brands of HIDs and even with the same Kelvin, they looked different.

 

how different. maybe 1000k off due to wattage and the glass type used in bulb.

yea i mean its not at HUGE difference, but its definitely noticeable.

 

stock hid's in bmw's, acura's, audi's, etc are 4300k.. They give off different color because of the lenses.. it's a prism effect btw

yup.. 4300 or 5k are the two best hid options

 

it"s all a matter or personal preference.......i personally love 12k......
yes name brands do matter.....12k on off brand maybe the same as 10k on good brand.....

Hi,

If you want to install HID for your High Beam, bare in mind that there are two kind of HID Ballast in the market:

a) Warm Start (Bright up slowly)

b) Cold Start (Bright up Immediately or instantly)

However, the lifespend of the bulb using cold start ballast will be reduced.

One more thing, It is not recommended to put HID for a open reflector lamp (High Beam) as the lamp cannot control the light output and will cause extreme glare to the on coming traffic unless you are thinking of putting in a projector for you high beam as well:3_headsha .

I understand a lot of people say that if you have HIDs in your lows you don't need to turn on the highs. BUT, IF you did, would the color of the HIDs be effected by the halogen bulb's light? or would it look exactly the same. I was thinking of getting some bulbs that simulate HID color (I think they exist) but if you coudln't tell the difference when they are on maybe i'll jus save my money.

 

"Simulated" hid color next to real HID's will be obvious and ugly. I say get Silverstars for highs paired with hid Lows. I have seen 6000K hids next to yellow tinted highbeam halogen bulbs and that looked good, and gave decent light output.

 

huge difference i will go outside in dark tonight and take pics.

i have silver stars in lows hids simulators in hghs. a 7k simulator.

huge difference looks like hid. and massive difference when i hit the highs. its like night and day!

 

I have not used my highs (even on country roads) since installing my HID's. When the highs are on, you cant see a difference and actually loose light output since my HID fog's turn off

Yes, my fog lights are brighter than my halogen high beams

 

You should get the "anytime foglight mod"! I never use my high beams either, and my HID fogs are brighter than my HID lows...lol.
